Hi All, I watched The Midnight Sky 2020 over the crimbo period only available on Netflix... Different to what I thought it would be but if your a greeny you'll love it, the one thing it has made me think of buying the novel as a result. George plays his role well opposite his imaginary daughter (Caoilinn Springall), while the film flicks between the spaceship returning and earth and Clooney's panic to ward them off. Starring:- George Clooney,Ethan Peck,Felicity Jones,Caoilinn Springall,David Oyelowo,Tiffany Boone,Demián Bichir, Kyle Chandler,Sophie Rundle,Tim Russ and Miriam Shor. The film is based on the book Good Morning, Midnight by Lily Brooks-Dalton, A lone scientist in the Arctic races to contact a crew of astronauts returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe. Geoff.

Hi All, Well how about that ? Not everybody's cup of tea green or otherwise.... Like I posted it has made me want to buy the book not because of the film altering how I view the whole climate thing but because I would just like to see how it compares to the film that Georgey boy directed... Geoff.

Geoff. Yep - sounds reasonable to me!! Mind you, I really hated 'Gravity' too, so maybe I should really steer clear of 'Returning from Distant Planets/Stuck in a dreadful Space-y Scenario'-type films in future. [Hah... 'in future'... see what I did there?!! 🙄]

1917. Sadly I thought it was overhyped, the main character goes through to many adventures to be in the least bit believable. To be blunt there was not enough blood, guts and horror to make it look like the horrifying ordeal it must have been...When it came to our hero the Germans were worse shots than Imperial Stormtroopers and how likely is that? They Shall Not Grow Old is the one to watch.

Not a film but a 2 hour documentary on how Marvel and rival DC transformed their empires from comicbook to (in Marvel's case) a movie universe. Excerpts from a lot of the core movies starting with Superman. Ones I had seen and ones I didn't see (and don't plan to). Very interesting particularly how slowly it all got off the ground even after Superman, and how bad some of the early Marvel efforts were as it hurried to monetise its brands. Their achievements with the best ones have been formidable. But (to me) the great upspoken Lockjaw in the Room is how despite several tries they have entirely failed to bring to any meaningful cinematic life The Fantasic Four, who were their absolute flagship in the 60s, and more SciFi than any of the others.

Season 2 of this little gem. Loved it (and just found out there's four more series to come!
And while doing research it was confirmed I have excellent taste: "it was ranked the best television drama of 2014 by The Observer". There you go.

Clooney's lost his mojo I noticed it was being raved about and I admit not a big Clooney fan (Although his catch-22 part was quite funny at times), I'll give anything that appears to be good in particular Sci-Fi a go. I don't know about his decrease in popularity could it be because of his anti Trump stance ? or just not making good movies anymore ? I find a lot of stars are like the wind go with whichever way it blows and keeps them relevant at the time ? I also think that many should really concentrate on doing what they do best and that is entertaining an audience, not grandstanding they're personal views on whatever sadly i.e Arnie comparing Kristallnacht to what happened in Washington on the 6th... Geoff.

Oh no, our media are firmly anti Trump, and rightly so. The sad fuck is on his way out, so good riddance. Why they didn't like the film had nothing to do with the topic (climate change), as we all know it is happening, it was just a bad film according to them. I haven't seen it so I can't comment whether they are right or wrong.

Didn't know there was an 'updated' version - Have to check it out! Loved the original, I thought Hoffman was superb in it. 👍
