Neither of us are avid movie fans but we watched this last Saturday. Not bad. It had its jumpy moments.

But this weekend we've decided to watch this on Blu-ray. THE greatest cartoon movie ever made. One of the greatest movies, period I went to the pictures to see this when it first came out. Favourite bit is when the snake who can hypnotise anything tries it on Shere Khan( Brilliantly voiced by George Sanders) and gets short shrift from the all powerful Tiger. A relevant story for today's World. The tiger has to kill the boy to ensure his own survival. Everyone is scared of the mighty Shere Khan.

Used to do that a lot back then. Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, Oliver, Batman....All that mid to late 60's stuff. Queueing under the watchful eye of older cousins to see A Hard Day's Night and Help, which was a couple of years earlier. George Sanders. What a voice. Always remember him in A Shot In The Dark. The first film I ever saw where I nearly lost control of my bodily functions with laughter

I shall watch this new version of All Quiet On The Western Front. I have read the book ( absolutely brilliant and moving) and have seen two previous versions of this film.

I haven't seen either of the previous films [nor read the book] so I'll be interested to hear what you think of this 'new' one. Btw, are those 3 'versions' all told from a German Infantryman's POV [I'm assuming they are and the film's language is German too?]
