Listening to Rod Stewart recently. He has/had a great gravelly voice, well suited to blues and rock n roll. Saw him live in 1983, when he was still at his peak. I seem to recall a great show!! The first track is Rod singing with the Jeff Beck group in 1969. Even at 24 he had one helluva voice!

A year later Rod was singing with the Faces. This track 'Three Button Hand me Down' was from their first album 'First Step' and here they are playing it live on the BBC in 1972.

And finally here's Rod, in 1976 and now a solo artist, singing HIS version of Wild Side of Life!! It was from his album 'A Night on the Town' which was released in June 1976 - thus predating Quos more famous version by 4/5 months!! Maybe Quo heard Rod's version and felt they could do a better one! Who knows!

My second favourite band from Oz (just). I bought their first two albums (European releases) in 1980 and 1981 - Face to Face and Darkroom - and have been listening to them ever since! So many great songs and such fantastic, surreal lyrics too! This is Wasted Sleepless Nights/Darkroom from 1980. A proper aural experience!! Among the many Aussie bands I saw live back between 76-85, I'd rank The Angels as my favourite. I saw them over 50 times and each gig was better than the previous...simply sensational rock and everyone left dripping in sweat. Doc was an amazing frontman and I always thought he'd move into the movie scene. RIP Doc. Enjoy
