Quo lost that hard edge on this album. Possibly past their peak by this time. [br ITABW is the addition of speed to ale and spliffs, almost punk like. The Ramones checked Quo out a few times, and the BFY tour saw them faster, harder and more in your face than ever before or again. For volume they later peaked with NTL. Rock giants all that time, the hard edge was not lost! BFY set even more rousing than the previous tour. Claudie played on OTL tour, wouldn't have fitted well onto Live! Quo had got harder

Should of said part their peak album wide.
You are right about their live performances
Few could match them at that time.

The last of the classic Quo albums.
Very consistent. The band are just so full of swagger.
It’s odd that so few of the songs are in my top Quo song list.
There is something that I don’t like about the production but it isn’t really bad like other albums later.
It’s hard to believe that a band this good would never get close to these heights again. A year or so later we would be treated to Baby boy et al.

Consistency : well EYM and BFY aren't for me. MS and Rain blow the others away, the rest is really good.
Sound : I think it's great. I don't hear anything wrong with the production. Listening to the solo on MS, I can't imagine how it could have been done any better

I think it is their best sounding album, sounds fantastic. Yes, it sounds great. John's cymbals at the right volume to! Is there a better way - Hard Rock done in Quo-style. Yes! Mad about the boy - ok but not great Ring of a change - Quo on speed! Superb track. When that songs fades away at the end, your left out of breath! Blue for you - Alan's best "soft song". If only all Quo's "soft songs" were as good as this one... Rain - If only all Quo's singles were as good as this one! Rolling home - Quo on speed part two. Love it! Great harmonica. That's a fact - How I love this track. Yes it's repetitive, but it just works for me. Ease your mind - the only song that doesn't work for me... Mystery song - Quo at their best, this is "Status Quo" for me, no other band can do what music like this does for me.

Probably my favourite of the 70s albums. Some really quite different types of song on it, but I do like them all.

BFY has an unsual combination of musical maturity and Gung-ho attitude.
Back in the 70s I thought of this album as being the true sound of Status Quo, rightly or wrongly. Obviously Quo had multiple personalities and multiple studio sounds but BFY had it nailed and a balance. Hasn't dated in quite the same way as say 'Piledriver' or 'QUO' for me.
Still enjoy all the tracks. The different styles making for an interesting album. Prefer 'On The Level' over BFY but what a dynamic duo they were and still are.

BFY contains two of my fave tracks in Rain and Mystery Song. As has previously been said the studio version of MS is just the dogs and wipes the floor with the truncated version. Grown to like the two 'weaker' (imo ) tracks BFY and Ease Your Mind. Love all the others. Having said that would have preferred hearing something else to Is There A Better Way on The Reunions. Better studio tracks on other albums that could have seen the light ( I saw the Light), rather than revisiting that. It's on the.. erm Live Album any way.
That's a Fact and Rollin Home are two tracks which , depending on my mood stand out at times, whilst Mad About The Boy and Ring of a Change, are typical Quo stonkers.
Superb Gatefold with a brilliant inner sleeve. For me the last of the classics from THE Quo .

I could live without 'Mad About The Boy' and 'Ease Your Mind' but the rest of the album is just superb. The speed-fuelled intensity of 'Ring Of A Change', Francis's magnificent solo in the title track, John's eyebrow-raisingly funky playing in 'That's A Fact'... so many highlights. Plus, of course, the full-length 'Mystery Song' is a masterpiece, one of the finest things they ever recorded. Have they recorded anything better since? I can't honesty say that they have.

Umleitung to Mystery Song what a run. A few more to follow but never the consistency.

lovely album. Helped at the time with that Levi ad campaign. Although they were right at the top of their popularity in 76 so maybe the campaign was a nice little earner for some but not necessarily needed. Fantastic album cover as well to boot. Song wise 2 songs let it down from being in my top 3 and they are the usual EYM & BFY. I know other FF albums had light and shade but just for arguments sake compare Lonely Man to EYM. No competition. Other than those 2 the rest are just fantastic tracks. Rolling home I just never tire of. Just wished they chose this instead of ITABW for the Live album. As others have said MS is just sublime with that mellow opening. TAF just has a groove to it that I absolutely Love. Could go on but Number 4 for me in my all time!

No competition. I have understood that many don't like Ease Your Mind. To me it's a great song and great album track. Can't really see it on any other album but I think it fits in perfectly here. Don't see it as a softer song that can be fairly compared to songs like Lonley Man. More fair to compare it with for example Claudie where I would choose EYM every day. It has an bluesy and interesting form and song structure. Great melodic guitar solo sa well. It's all just my options of course.

Well for me Claudie easily still trounces EYM by a country mile. But we are all a wide church I guess.
