You can make a decent cd from his work but only an ep of great songs.

Thanks for starting this thread gav. That is quite a collection of songs. And some I really love too. We seem to be the only Quo community honouring his legacy and memory too. Thanks for that everyone. He was an important part of the Quo story.

Thanks for that everyone. He was an important part of the Quo story. It’s such a shame we never got his side of the Quo story. In that I don’t mean gossip or scandal or his view of the breakups etc. More the story behind the song writing and recording. Did he write much away from Quo? I know nothing about him really, but for someone who I am told fell on harder times. It shows something he didn’t in desperation go to the S*n and sell his gossip or blame Francis for his hard times.

It's like the fanbase has been blind
This guy deserves so much recognition, yet he hardly had any
Shed loads of great songs from a guy unfairly thought of as replacing Bob and things becoming not as good
Truthfully I still know virtually nothing about him

Agreed MrWaistcoat. And nothing on the official Quo fb either. Only one post in the community section from someone who was part of the old msg board community. Very disappointing.

A guy that was a brilliant musician that slipped through the cracks of the industry and was / is completely forgotten about. Nothing on the Quo site, or their facebook page which is appalling, then again how long was it before Rick was mentioned on either. Only recently had I found out how he'd come into working with Quo. Other than that there is zero information about him, and it's like he has genuinely never existed. I am very intrigued as to whether or not those tapes still exist from the sessions of the Quo minus Lancaster with Bernie and 2 other musicians! So I'll have to do some deep diving to try and find out Cheers

I hope that FTMO jason do write up about him. I suspect that because there is little known about him in the press archives, they would need to speak to his family and members of Quo to do it well. I for one would be love to know his story. He wrote so many songs and was clearly very talented. It was be a wonderful way to show him some respect at last. Fingers crossed. And thanks Quoincidence for finding out what you have so far.

I've got a load of research that's never been published, but it's incomplete and I do like to be definitive! I only had the one interview with Bernie and it was only short, as a precursor to followups that never happened for various reasons. I'd always included him in my encyclopedia research for everyone's work outside of Quo.
Unfortunately the print deadline on the next FTMO magazine is almost upon us as it has to coincide with Backbone, so there can't be an in depth piece this time. There'll obviously be a news item.

Looking again at the list of songs, "No Time Left To Cry" rang no bells with me.
Just had a listen, it's the demo of the unused song I had thought was called "Another Game In Town"

Although the writing credits on that song have been confusing, as some releases have credited it to Rossi/Young, and it was on one of Bob's demo collections, so probably not a Bernie co-write. (?)
I was thinking about writing, or at least starting a Wikipedia article about him. You guys are totally right, he gets unfairly forgotten. I tried to tell my radio station about him too but to no avail. Sigh-
