Forget Slacktone and play Almost Saturday Night by Dave Edmunds Better still listen to Almost Saturday Night by John Fogerty.

He would have had to give up creative control and he wouldn’t have made more money than he does. And what makes you think their combined Songwriting abilities would have still been there for it ? All they did was 2 tours playing their original material from 40...yes 40 years earlier. If you think they would have produced a Piledriver or a Hello then you are living in cloud cuckoo land. The last album they wrote for was B2B... great album... I’ll hold my laugh in. I think you would probably have found their collective creative juices ebbing as much as you think the current bands have. We will never know. So what you have is what you’ve got. Take them or leave them. Yeah it’s ok in my eyes to still make comment. It’s a free society but I’ll probably disagree with most lol. To be fair, I never thought a reunion album was going to happen or thought it was a great idea. Would it have been a great album, as I said at the time I doubt it. Rossi’s best songs since ‘86 are probably on the Heavy Traffic album and The Party isn’t over albums. Some good songs but nothing to put in the category of great or to compare to the classic Quo songs of yore. As for Rick and Alan their writing hasn’t been great for so long. Ricks solo album possibly shows in places what could have been possible. So they certainly could have recorded an album as good if not better to my ears than anything since Never to late. As good as Whatever I highly doubt it and as good as 70-76 I would say definitely not. But it wasn’t to be. Unlike others I don’t ‘blame’ Francis for not wanting to give up control. It wasn’t to be.

No need for the insults towards whatever you think of his music. Ah pot/kettle I said nothing of his music whatsoever regardless Where have I made personal insults about the current band ? You are just proving my point

Truly ridiculous that some still have expectancies that a 70 yr old will produce classic rock music he was producing in his 20/30s with a totally different band Sad but true, it seems like you are at your creative peak around 20-30. There will never be another Piledriver from this band. I don't really agree that Whitesnake and AC/DC are as good as they once were in the 70-80's. Even take a look at the Beatles, what songs they wrote in the 60's when they totally dominated as songwriters, and what the output has been since. Paul is still doing OK but it's not even close to Penny Lane or Hey Jude.

Yep. Exactly. All bands have their little Golden period when their creativity is at its peak. Nearly every band in existence never live up to that period Theresfter. In fact off the top of my head I can’t think of one that has ! Someone mentioned Judas Priest earlier. Crap band in my opinion but even they sold out with the 12 inch single of the demonic ‘Take on the World’. Talk about Quo selling out.

DC have done things well enough to keep a huge fanbase, not change image and sound, and not embarass/alienate fans If Quo had consistently made disappointing rock albums from 1982 onwards and kept the same image and sound, they'd be at least 10 times bigger than they now are But way too late to change that now DC have managed to cruise through their career with years between album releases and tours due to their big breakthrough into the USA. I guarantee if they had failed to make a dent there, then they would’ve faded away long ago. Haha I couldn’t imagine Angus and Malcolm making guest appearances on ‘Neighbours (ala Francis n Rick on Coronation St)’ to keep the band ticking over I'm not sure success in America impacted on popularity in Europe? They were already a big live band across Europe before they cracked America. Rock fans are a loyal lot Francis has been saying that he accepts that they'd be a bigger live band now if they had stayed heavy rock. Obv Corrie wouldn't have been an option for DC! 😆

Gee - it's rare that I completely disagree with a post on here, and whaddya know... here's one! Now if you'd said 'Kiss' above, I'd be singing your praises... but you didn't. So I'm not.
Ho hum. [Btw, we could fill this entire site with stuff about 'Quo' selling out. Just write a history since 1981. Easy.]

Instead Quo Lite will sputter on. Even if the new album is really good Quo Lite, and has some enjoyable moments, it's still Quo Lite.

Uh... God ... did you actually read what I wrote at all?
I was TRYING to refer [in the main] to your assertion of '...Judas Priest... Crap band in my opinion', to which I absolutely disagree. Moreover, I TRIED to say that IF you had said 'Kiss', I would have totally agreed with you as [in my opinion] they are so completely shite, over-rated and infantile, that if I had a time machine I'd first go back and stop them forming and then I'd obliterate the wee mustachioed Teuton who caused WWII.
As for 'Take on the World' - you are [needless to say] entitled to your view, but I'd favour it ahead of [for example] 'Ain't Complaining' [and I mean the whole AC album] Mind you, I'd favour both sides of 'The Wit and Wisdom of Ronald Reagan' LP over that heap of rubbish.
So there Have a wonderful weekend!
