In an interview with John I heard in the last few years (sorry but I can't remember exactly where), he said that Alan had a case against Quo and he was asked to join Alan's case, as John's case was stronger. John actually won and Alan lost, incurring massive legal fees and debts. And if you add this, to conversation between Alan and Francis in 2010 where they started speaking again and ironed out the personal lies, you start to see how the reunions happened. I believe now that those gigs were to raise money to cover Alan's debts. A guilty conscience from Francis perhaps?? And when they were a success - reviews and fans... he didn't like it. And hence no more. Personally, I don't think it was that they were a success and he didn't like it, just that he prefers working with the current band these days and doesn't want things to go bad again with Alan and John; and after 2 tours he could see that happening. Francis music tastes have mellowed over the years, and whilst he doesn't mind playing the old heavy stuff (they put Railroad and BEL in the CQ set last year), he doesn't, or doesn't want to write like that any more.

I've had a Francis bias since becoming a fan, well he partly was the initial reason I became a fan of the band - but I must admit of late I keep finding reasons to be disappointed in the way he can act and behave from time to time. Despite my allegiances, I don't give him the benefit of the doubt in the way that you do (although I accept what you say about his enjoyment of his own solo band and personal musical preferences).
I've rather increasingly grown to see the raw deal Alan had in all this, and the (very credible) story that CG provides above, is further persuasive of that imo.
Its a pity that Francis cannot place the enjoyment and satisfaction of the FF gigs for what they were, over and above serving a purpose to both help his conscience and just means to an end of squaring things with Alan. Obviously its to be welcomed that these attempts to heal rifts happened, but its all too manufactured and calculated towards a specific purpose rather than spontaneous and responsive to the needs of fans outside of any 'inside band politics'

Just got the latest product. Interesting that inside dvd, it refers to status quo past and present, and names all members, as opposed to status quo are: small point, but glad to see all names there, and no distinction between them, ie all listed together. Perhaps other similar products had this as well...although I am thinking not and can't be bothered to check... If you look on the special remix, remastered, redux limited edition latin lyric sheet upside down using a reversed phase rectoscope it says FTMO everyfcukingthing.

Yes, I agree. Francis has moved on. I was feeling in a devilish mood this morning.

But maybe he can still come up with the occasional surprise... like another reunion tour off the ff.. i know, unlikely... but i still hope he can still surprise us all..

I wonder.... TAFKAR moved on, the mature standard answer to the not-so-truly-and-fully believers of the SOMOGAG, but the immature me wonders: in what direction?

Well he did 2 FF tours after years of saying it would never happen, he did a 'brilliant imo' solo tour, he let It's Christmas time go out when he wasn't in favour of it, and he went ahead with Aquostic when he wasn't keen in the first place. My point being, that he does sometimes do things that weren't his idea and he initially doesn't want to do.....so never say never!
