Think I went to this gig as well . Was it over a weekend that had the “ beach boys “ on another night ? .

We even get special gusts That would only be for a New Zealand tour. 😊 Windy Wellington only , the gusts would have to be stratospheric , because they had to cancel the Auckland gig a few years ago , there excuse was double booked , very poor sales was probably nearer the mark .Maybe Deep Purple as special gusts playing Stormbringer might have shifted a few .......

Was there any truth in the rumour that Rick and Francis kept it until the late eighties , early nineties because they would place it on a chair in the recording studio and try and replicate their 70’s groove . However this failed and the puppet mysteriously vanished from the studio . The puppet was rediscovered , by a new homeowner , being used as a scarecrow in a posh South London garden .

If PLC had invited Wolfmother to record with them I wouldn’t have been surprised to hear this song freewilly , well done mate .

NEC , winter tour , the 0ne with Kim Wilde and Roy Wood , half empty at least , I think there was a curtain . Poor gig by status quo standards and there seemed to be an unrehearsed encore . Can understand you don’t like small theatres because the facilities backstage aren’t up to much , but if you want to only perform in arenas / stadiums it would help to sell out or as close as possible to achieve some kind of atmosphere . Small pockets of fans kind of going for it amongst the standstill / sat down brigade spoil it for me . Thank fuck the reunion tours didn’t attract too many of them and the bounce along was back . Haven’t seen status quo since the reunions what are the crowds and reaction like ?

Don’t think I will ever get tired of listening to that song , especially the pre 1985 versions . Being very selfish , I wish they could have done something like this version on the reunion tours . ‘14 with Gotta Go Home was far superior to ‘13 with Rain . I wonder if Francis ever plays his guitar parts in his studio in a reminiscent practice kind of way ? . Listening to this , I’m back at the Apollo, Selhurst and Milton Keynes all jumbled up in my head , watching Status Quo tearing it up , running around ........... fucking brilliant ......thanks Quoincidence , cheers mate for posting that .

Quoincidence is there a way to use the album version of Mystery Song ( ie the beginning and end ) with a live version of Mystery Song all dressed up as if they had opened up live with it ?

I can't wait for the day when bubbles going back to being just something in a drink or something little kids blow. This isn’t related to a certain dead American pop star is it ?

I am not surprised they played Sun City... but thats my view of Francis and Rick just follow the money. But they weren't alone.. Dame Kiri Janette Te Kanawa, Elaine Page, Frank Sinatra, Queen, Elton John, Linda Ronstadt, Julio Iglesias, The O'Jays, Ray Charles, Boney M., Black Sabbath, Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, Dionne Warwick, Laura Branigan and Thomas Anders all played as well. Although in fairness to Bev Bevan he refused to play when he was in a version of Black Sabbath and left rather than play there. I'll tell you who didn't play Sun City. Don't ask me how I know... At 3.28 , it’s very nice to see Alan , who has swapped his sleeveless leather End of the Road tour jacket for a black one !

I met somebody on the day from the BBC who had the set lists on him , Quo were down to do four songs . WYW was on the list . As said above , timings were the issue . I believe if they had done WYW , the audiences would have appreciated them more .
