To me it sounds very much like the leftovers from Just Supposin'. The songs are undeveloped, there's too little guitar, the sound is drenched with synthy keyboard stuff that jars rather than complements - & Rossi seems to sing everything! Was it meant to be his first solo album?
Not sure why AL didn't take the lead on anything but it was recorded just after the tragic death of Rick's young daughter.
They have nothing to lose now. They have all their classics for the casual fans, they would be very lucky to produce another one now.
Yes, but sorry, who is they? Not Status Quo surely?
QPQ was 5 years ago. Rossi doesn't have it in him. Rhino and Andy? Might contribute a few snippets but they collectively do not have the capabilities of putting together a 10 track album between them, rock sounding or otherwise.
If its not a gimmick its not under the Quo banner and they have completely run out of them.
Seriously, there is no where to take this current outfit. It is a case of squeeze out the greatest hits and rely on nostalgia or nothing.
Rossi would be best to let sleeping dogs lie and get on with putting on a solo tour with some guest appearances now and then to make it colourful and live out his days producing other people's music or co writing etc.. Plenty to get his teeth into. It doesn't have to be under the Quo name.
Look, it can't go on forever and neither should it. I dare say Rossi realises it too and he will see out contractual commitments and then let it go. Why hold on to a damp squid?
It IS a Rossi solo tour now but unfortunately it's under the SQ name.

The album is a bit of a marmite one. I know some slate the album but I've always enjoyed it. Ok, it's not a Piledriver or even a Blue for You or On the Level, but I think it's as good as WYW and far, far better than IYCSTH and the standard RAOTW. There's nothing post NTL that comes anywhere close, nothing.
The title track may be a chugger but it's a pleasant chugger and the intro starts the album off on a positive. Yeah yeah, it's got Something 'bout You Baby I Like on it, oh well. But Take Me Away is a stormer and I love the Chuck Berry cover Carol. My personal favourite is Mountain Lady (yes, even with that ending). Riverside... How many songs have a fade-in? Not many & I love it.
Some say they believe that it's a drum machine on Riverside, but I spoke to JC a while back and he says he did drum on Riverside. Maybe if it is a machine then they used another take. Who knows?
One of the most over rated songs in the last 20 years. The fact that some people cling onto it, comparing it to the pre81 period. Shows how bad they have been for 30 years. Its bang average.
Even stranger is the choice of photo used for each of them, hardly a rockstar image. I'm thinking of bringing out Status Quo toilet roll, each sheet will have a colour picture of Simon Porter on.
Whoami put something on here - September 2016, and its a video of John Eden on the mixing desk stripping this track down, very interesting, I'm sure one of you young 'un's could retrieve and get it back on here?
I remember John taking those videos down off of his facebook page... which I can't seem to find now either

I don't mind Baby Boy at all, I just wish it was closer to the demo we got on the RAOTW John Eden remix cd. Love the guitar sound and bass drum on that demo.
