Blimey can you imagine what the uproar would of been if "Tommy" was released as a single as well...? would that have counted as a double b-side?

🤣 Not saying I would welcome a Xmas album. But Quo have done everything else. I'm surprised someone hasn't pushed for it. 👀 I know what you mean and, when I actually think about it, I guess it's a valid point. Thankfully, it never happened. Christmas albums are bollox no matter who does them. And some very reputable artists have. These are the only 2 decent ones I can think of:

Don't forget the possibility of an album of reworked classic Quo - with orchestra! & guest singers & musicians! We had that already with the Don't Stop album didn't we 🤔😏 I think there was a brass section, but not an actual orchestra

I would definitely welcome an album of new material. I'm amazed the record company are not forcing them to do another covers album, or even a Christmas album. Lots of artists have done Christmas album's. Don't forget the possibility of an album of reworked classic Quo - with orchestra! & guest singers & musicians!

status quo live on air
odd to see all the longest tracks on side A & all the shortest tracks on side B & no drummer!? Can’t be this one, it is described as a 4lp box set, not only a single lp perhaps it's more material from the same set of gigs - or 3 spare copies of the same lp

I didn't realise Bob Young's middle name was Keith. I thought that was well known, but I didn't know Rossi/Young used the pseudonym Francisco Ontiveros Firman!

there are better cover versions - odd that they seemed to have a crowd of about 40 joining in

I get the impression (and it's only a perception) that Francis's interest in Quo, other than a way of providing an occasional income for himself and the rest of the band, has waned. So they'll still play the odd gig but not much else. But he's doing other things now and appears to be enjoying it. Well, I know he is because sis asked him at the meet and greet and he said he preferred doing what he was doing now. I'm not sure how much PLC material there is or how much of it is more myth than substance. Certainly nothing has seen the light of day. Not a sniff. I'd love Shifting Sands to be recorded properly or at least tidied up. I wouldn't like them to mess with how the original was meant to sound by bringing it into the 21st century. For me, Backbone was half decent but no more than that. I thought it lacked something. Not sure what. Something like 'feel', is maybe the word I'm looking for. The only studio tracks before that were the extras on Aquostic II and these were underwhelming to say the least. I guess Backbone isn't a bad one for it to all fizzle out on. Not that I'd say no to a new album. I just don't expect one. "more myth than substance." Great single or album title...especially if was by Bruce Springsteen. "I thought it lacked something. Not sure what." Lancaster, Parfitt and Coghlan? On a near serious note when I listen to latter day Quo studio recordings the word 'pastiche' comes to mind. It must be incredibly difficult to keep writing good songs, bearing in mind the major burden has been Rossi's since the band begun. which wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't peaked 50 years ago

I'm waiting for a Quo '70-'76 style album to be produced by AI

Agree with all the above... One album later they started releasing more than one single. LL missed out due to the one single per album policy. Same Backwater / Quo, and same DWMT/Piledriver The upside is that Roll Over Lay Down wasn't released as one of the singles from Hello!, which meant it was ideal for subsequent release on the Live! ep.

I'd have prefered it, or almost anything else, to the execrable Come Rock With Me / Rockin' On
