First the press release and now the interview with Francis in Planet Rock repeats the line that the tour was changed to electric because of fans demanding it.
Apparently, the acoustic tour was done to accommodate Rick.
Why then, four months after Rick had died, did Quo announce it?
They knew how the previous acoustic tour sold.
They knew how much it would cost to bring in extra musicians.
They knew interest for acoustic was on the wane since the release of Aquostic II.
They knew they wouldn't be releasing another single off the album to boost ticket sales.
So, why on earth did they announce it?!
In the hope that the the thousands of people who bought the first Aquostic album THREE YEARS AGO would miraculously reappear and snap up tickets? That the Glastonbury performance would do something for them?
There is no strong business logic whatsoever that says this tour was going to sell. All ifs, buts and maybes.
Porter should be sacked.

Maybe Mr and Mrs Smith demanded it so they could hear RAOTW again at Xmas but that's about it What "the fans" would have really liked was new music from Alan John Rick and Rossi but Porter colluded with Rossi and said it was a non starter for whatever reason. Quo are a band so out of touch with their fan base these days it's gone beyond a joke Cheers

This whole excuse about the Aquostic tour being for Rick's benefit is utter bollocks isn't it?
It seems like the only excuse they can find to justify switching from Aquostic to electric is to use a dead man's name in vain.
Why didn't they tell us back in the day that Aquostic was for Rick's benefit? Anyone remember Rick saying that playing acoustic guitar was more physically challenging than playing the telecaster? I think it was on the roundhouse interview, and probably also in FTMO at the time.
They could just be honest and admit that nobody bought the Aquostic II album, and ticket sales for the tour were low.
But they can't - they have to somehow justify that the LNOTE was genuinely going to be the end of electric touring, and now find a reason to keep on touring the electric set, and the only thing that has changed, that they can trot out in yet another bizarre press release, is that it's because of Rick dying.
Rick had retired from the band in 2016! He was never going to play with them again! So why on earth would they have marketed the tour as Aquostic in the first place.
What a bloody dog's dinner.

Of course the obvious thought that comes to mind is that Francis has to be the spokesman to sell the idea of the tour change in interviews he makes
Aww there, poor lamb. That must be some tough task when he fully endorses the idea himself...

On the other side I've seen some APPALLING requests They want Richie to sing Rockers Rollin', and either Rossi, Andy or Richie to sing Backwater/Just Take Me as part of a new set Some of them over there need tests doing on their brains

If anyone's going to "take over" I would rather it was Rossi, but that's just my preference. Maybe people just want the songs. "But it's not the same". It's not better, either. No doubt about that.

"The fans demanded it" is a different way of saying "The fans were not buying tickets for Aquostic".
It's quite an inference to say that fans were demanding another electric tour just because tickets weren't selling very well.
It's the same logic that is able to put a spin on the incredible demand for fans attending the LNOTE tour - which as we all know, was just because we thought it would be the last chance to see them plugged in.
Absolute gold star effort in bending the truth to fit a marketing campaign.

FR solo tour a few years back showed that a set can be selected that fits vocals and music alike. This meant of course being his band, he did the bulk of the singing.
It won't happen, but the same approach should be taken by the LNOTE establishment. The result would at least be a shake-up and preferably contain completely new material that naturally could also suit the vocal range of all the singers in the band, because they wrote them themselves. In this way, the load is taken off Francis and the rest can be comfortable in their own skin rather than trying to emulate the, um, un-emulateable.
But like I say, it won't happen

I beg to differ. They are completely in touch with the Quo can do wrong fan base and the chicken in a basket fan base. Give them a show. No effort, no quality control and no need to play any of the rubbish they've recorded in the last 30 years. Its what these customers want. It's why they keep coming back.

The last time I had chicken in a basket was in 1993 in Flicks nightclub in Brechin. D'ream were playing 'live' as well.
