Regarding revealing this information. I agree its insensitive. But the Quo camp will know from their own fb page, let alone the sites like ours, that fans are discussing these issues. Francis is only human and wanted to set the record straight about what actually happened over Rick's funeral. The bit I object to is them laughing about Rick back at home and not recording his album, especially as I've heard this isn't true. And anyway, months after a major heart attack like the one he suffered, is no time and probably he had to rest up anyway. Why not watch snooker. I think it's taken out of context. We know Rick could be very lazy at times regarding writing so I can understand with them going "Yeah Rick of course you are" "Like you allways did when we were writing".

Are you saying that the journalist cut Francis' comment and omitted the context in which it was said? Regardless of his lack of writing in the past, to say this about him after such a major heart attack/near death experience, is tactless to me. Especially if there had been a falling out.

I think that Francis should try and get that "me against the world" vibe back ASAP. It would make a change from the "me against the fans" vibe.......

I guess what Flash really means is, it works in the context of being Rick and the people who knew him, which is not really there in the article. But I don't think this was a great time to say it. Francis is plugging. He's got a history of being a wee bit tiresome when he's plugging.

Aye. Very funny, Francis. NOT. The Sky News interview he says that he knew Rick had mental problems after the heart attack. So, let me get this straight... Francis and various other band members proceeded to laugh at Rick's misfortune knowing full well what the situation was? Utterly despicable. That's a bit bitter, isn't it ... Rick always had a bit of a tendency to spin a yarn and delude himself (he more or less said so once) but this really isn't the time for that kind of comment. I admit I don't comprehend male banter, but I'm not sure that's it, not with Rick deceased and his families still trying to sort themselves out. Not bitter at all. When before did Rick have mental problems that he wasn't responsible for? Sure, he got pissed and got high on whatever, but the consequences of his heart attack were not something he could just shake off, even if he was to blame for it happening in the first place. To be told someone has mild cognitive impairments and then laugh at said person is low. Whoever passed on the information to the band that Rick was watching the snooker naked needs THEIR head examined.

But I guess that's just nostalgia, right.

But he said he and the rest of the band had laughed at Parfitt's claim last October that he was considering some solo work, saying they heard that rather than working on new material he was 'stark naked, on the sofa, watching the snooker'. Francis and various other band members proceeded to laugh at Rick's misfortune knowing full well what the situation was? Utterly despicable. These 'mental health' issues were reported at the time of his retirement as ' cognitive' something - he suffered memory loss. Edit: He suffered mild cognitive impairments - mild memory loss.

Should we take it as "We paid for Ricks funeral, so a tribute concert isn't happening... that's good enough"? Could be, couldn't it. I think they will "re hydrate" the electrics, and then think about a tribute gig or gigs. A tribute is more likely to make money than lose money. (Probably.)

That back fired on Francis, massively. Arseholes

I understand that new members join us and want to comment on old threads. So not grumbling about that. But I find it painful to see this thread resurrected and wounds kept open, so long after Rick's passing.
I'd prefer it if we let this thread go now.
