Yes Gaz, 1975 is 42 years ago and people change. That doesn't make it alright though what Francis has done by doing the Coles ads. Though if you view the ads as being funny or an attempt at being funny, then I forgive them. Is it funny? I'd much rather they hadn't done the ads.
Back in the early 80's in Australia MIDNIGHT OIL refused to go on COUNTDOWN ( UK's Top of the Pops ) because it would be demeaning and devalue their ethics of them as a band.

Its not only bands who do ads now. Many leading actors do now too, when back in the 70s/80s they would never have done them. BAck then, ads were only for unknowns, actors who couldn't get other work. But the money that can be made turned their heads.

Mate I don't think they're funny at all... it's not the Quo I remember as what I saw in Oz back in 75,76,and 78. Yes I remember The Oils stance re: Countdown and I also remember Peter Garrets pathetic time in Parliament.

Thanks therockdoctor . I found this pic which made me smile. ssl image hostingIn the article I found this interesting.... Casey Donovan wins Australian Idol in 04 but doesn't "make it" - her words - until winning I'm A Celebrity (2017) and being the face of Coles... Meanwhile the Dail Mail have an article yesterday saying how much the public hate the new campaign she's fronting. The original ads had a certain amount of hilarity. This is definitely in jackass territory. Someone said disco, this would be an insult to disco ... the only funny thing about it is Francis's exasperated look when the bloke turns the ad off. At least the DM article (if you can call it an article ... "3 or 4 people say they don't like celebrity's latest project", we know how much influence that has ... ) at least it calls Down Down a "classic" and makes the point this is not the original song ...
