I remember coming out of Hammersmith tube station and focusing my eyes across the road at my favourite venue to read the words STATUS QUO 15/16 MARCH and I then I knew, after seeing the frantic four for the last time in Southampton in 1981, I was going to see the group that was my musical history throughout the 70s again and I was buzzing in anticipation for this concert. The afternoon was spent with like minded Quo fans, enjoying a drink and exchanging stories at the Distillers pub, where I recall, we drank the pub dry!! It was the first time I had seen the tribute band Stated Quo and I wasn't dissapointed, what a band, what an atmosphere, what an afternoon. I'm not ashamed to mentioned, but I had tears in my eyes, when the curtain dropped to reveal Rick, Alan, John & Francis standing on stage. For the next 90 minutes, I felt like I was a teenager in the 70s.

Yes, arriving out side the venue and seeing their name up there was like being in a time machine. And that bubble of excitement at what was about to happen. Seeing the curtain with the iconic image from the Hello album and taking photos of it. And sheer joy when they walked on stage and started up the opening chords of Junior's Wailing. All was right with the world once more for those precious 90 mins.

Oh yes! What an evening.... Never went to the Distillers, but the ambience in the queue at Hammy was incredible... We were all there for one thing. Not a row in sight, no drunken fellers and no hassle.... just the amazing comraderie of Quo-fans cheering, and chatting as the queue slowly took us into the place. Crying to MOTT, Shivers down me spine because it was magic. Everything was magic. (No it was because I am a sad old nostalgic W*nker....) All great in the queue for the CD thing afterwards... A lovely bunch of folks you are!

For me the audience went totally mental when they played Railroad. It was great enough up until then but after that it was fcuking pandemonium...and now 5 blokes sit on stools, looking like stools incidentally, and strum.

My memories of 2 nights then and 2 nights a year later are mixed up, but we saw that first night mainly under someone else's elbow in the top seats, owing to the usual scrum at the on line ticket sales. It was fine. I've seen a lot of good gigs from restricted views, the only things that really wind me up are people talking, and people who keep leaning towards each other to talk (or snog) which really screws up the view. (Which I had the following night standing downstairs. Bugger that for a lark! I did seats both times the next year, but then slightly regretted not going standing on Monday as it was reported less packed. But who knew?) These were Alan's gigs as far as I was concerned. So good to see and hear him again. He looked fragile, but his performances were fantastic, he hasn't lost his voice at all. And hearing songs I hadn't heard played live before. (That tour brought Oh Baby into the set and it lasted through the Winter Tour. At least ONE other person at the O2 appreciated it, I could see them going mental over the other side ) I am not of the Most of the Time generation, but the happiness arising from the sitting/standing folk around me and the stalls below was tangible. The next night, on my way home alone (the Mr does not do standing if he can help it, back trouble) someone jumped under a train further up the line and we all spent hours standing in the freezing cold half way home while the rail people tried to get transport/get the trains going again. So not everyone was having a good time that night. We fans were the lucky ones.

It's ironic really given Rossi's subsequent comments but for me there was absolutely nothing nostalgic about those brilliant nights at Hammersmith. For me it was just two things I'd finally got my band back, and I couldn't wait to hear them play the music I love.
Now 4 years on looking back, we're starting to get nostalgic about those magical days and that feeling will only get stronger .

They had split before I was even born. Never experienced them before. What's truly scary about it all is, they were amazing in 2013/2014 but, I can only imagine what they were like in the 70s and 80s. One thing I know is, I certainly will never experience anything like it again

I inadvertally pushed in front of some lovely people in the queue and instantly apologized.I went to take my place at the back but these lovely jolly ladies insisted it was a mistake anyone could make.I spoke to a Scots lad inside during a Rossi ramble and he'd been on the whole tour and said tonight was fucking mental.During Railroad I remember the whole place bouncing and a really jolly Northern giant with a check shirt having a great time.I was wearing a white Paul McCartney t shirt and was on Parfitts side of the stage 20 so feet back.If anyone was around about that location could they confirm that everyone was 19 again

I'm so glad all this happened, but also sad we'll never now repeat it again. Can only speak about the Glasgow gigs, but the excitement of the build up, meeting other fans all on a high about the gig, magic. When i was walking up to the gig, I found a ticket. Got to the queue and waited to see who in front couldn't get in. The guy was about greetin' when he couldn't find his ticket but I immediately thrust it into his hands. Being kissed by an old hairy arsed quo fan was a first....

Most of the time was never more moving especially in Glasgow. Backwater at Hammersmith was incredible because of the reaction, old men in boys clothes. Yes it will never happen again but at least it happened twice. Fans of Floyd etc can only wish for such enjoyment.
