Jeff wasn't to blame. He played along at the tempo Rick and Francis wanted to play at. He unfairly gets the blame cos he was in the drum seat at the time. Do people think that Francis would have played along at Jeff's speed if he thought it was too fast....of course he wouldn't! I think the high tempo at the time was an overreaction to how dull and dour Rossi and Parfitt thought the Milton Keynes gig sounded. Agreed Although, I highly doubt either of them remember much, if any, of that gig. They were both known to get sloshed before a gig back then and you can see the state of the two of them when they come back on for the encore, which makes me realise that Alan, Pete and Andy never participated in that behaviour It wasn't that they remembered it (they probably don't )! They talked about playing it to Jeff and Rhino to show them what they were all about and realising (in their opinions) that there was no energy there. So after that they made a big effort to up the tempo and the energy on stage.

Agreed, a top night. I enjoyed it much more than the O2 gig, was second row on Rhino's side and it was a packed house. Great fan meeting in a pub in the afternoon and met the band on their arrival out the back of Brighton Centre. Great Quo day all round. Full review to follow. I used to have great times at Brighton! I hope he did too, he's not a fan in the way I am, but he was gallant enough to do the long drive to come and join me and get me home (I would come down from work in London, but we didn't live there). Hang on ... second row ... you mean they've put SEATS in there ??!! IN fact Brighton was my chance to do standing gigs with Quo, because by that time, Hammy was all seated. Not that we didn't stand (and even lean on the stage sometimes) but you know what I mean.

Oh oh lozza.... got your tin hat ready!? I enjoyed it to a point but did miss Rick. I thought Richie did well but a few bits were off e.g. the middle bit in Rain when it seemed a bit rushed. I know he wasn't going to do the extended guitar swinging but that chugga chugga bit is integral to the song and you could hardly hear it. Maybe it wasn't his fault though and his guitar was too low in the mix. I thought his guitar was low at London .. this is now being confirmed by other reviewers. OK Francis sounded great most of the time, but trailing the rhythm guitar is not a good choice for Quo.

The standing area certainly helped give the gig a better atmosphere I think.
