Lovely clip, one highlight among many on the 'Ole Ole' tour documentary, one of rwo new films they have released. Great time to be a fan; two films, the new blues album, euro tour next year, and the rumoured Paris 1976 pro shots to be released next year as part of the From the Vault series.

The album, "Blue and Lonesome", leaked a few hours ago ahead of its friday release. It is thrilling, a wonderfully evocative ride through 12 blues nuggets! Anyone who liked the first few songs released is in for a real treat. Excellent stuff indeed

I made the mistake of including it on my crimbo list. If they don't buy it, I will in a flash.

I heard some songs. Very nice for the most part but what the hell was Mick thinking when singing "Can't Quit You Baby"?! Completely over the top!

Life is a strange thing, but this project has actually reduced my sense of the Stones as a blues band. But then I've got The Rolling Stones - Now, which is R&D done proper, mainly really good covers. I wish them all a nice time, but this is not for me. And Led Zep did a better version of I Can't Quit You.
Interestingly someone, maybe the Guardian, said that now the Stones are old they have blues credibility, but blues never was an "old man's music", it's just one of those musics that stays true as you get old. All those guys were young once, just like the rest of us, and that is when they wrote most of the blues classics. This is just culture, I am into Rock'n'roll ;-)

All those guys were young once, just like the rest of us, and that is when they wrote most of the blues classics. This is just culture, I am into Rock'n'roll ;-) The thing I hear when I hear these songs is the same thing as when Gary Moore switched from hard rock to blues: They just sound so naturally at ease with this kind of music. A lot of the self-penned songs from the last couple of Stones albums sounded contrived to me. Blues credibility? Well it was often the old guys who passed on the songs to younger generations. Buddy Guy overheard some people talking about him in the 70s, saying something like "he must be over 80, right?" when he was in his fourties! And you can play the blues sitting down without jumping around - there's less of that "youth" factor that's so firmly embedded into a lot of rock'n'roll songs (Satisfaction!). Certainly experience improves the ability to sing and play the blues, whereas rock bands very often hit their peak at an early age when they're still "hungry".

Blue and Lonesome has gone to No.1 on the Album Charts in the UK; the Stones 12th No.1 there. Topping album charts in Argentina, Gernany, Belgium and others. It gained top spot in 40 countries on the itunes chart also.
A week into it I have to say its the Akbum of the Year for me, a fantastic record.
