Hi All, I would have thought it was a tad to early to do another remake but hey who am I...? Is it anything near as good as John Carpenters ?
Geoff.
It's a prequel that ends where Carpenter started. It has been made by a director who has changed nothing that made the original great, even the soundtrack is the same. It's good enough to have a 'The Thing' evening. If you liked the original this is essential viewing.

Railroad17 Could you watch the original Thing From Outer Space before the 2012 prequel ? I liked that as well and always viewed that and Carpenters as separate films. I just watched the trailer after your reply and it does look good....

Totally different films. The Thing From Another World is a brilliant piece of work which rumour has it involved Orson Welles in the creative department. It's obvious that William Shatner based Kirk on Kenneth Tobeys superb lead performance. It's impossible to spot any moment in this movie when the actors look as though someone has just shouted action. This movie is one of the top 20 ever made with it's use of fine actors and real moments of suspense and terror, the noise the the Thing makes is used even now.Glad you like it as well..it's my top 10 of all time and shows that a good story, good cast, good director and crew, the editor on this is a fcuking genius, prove you don't need 400 squillion bucks to make a great film.

Thor Ragnarok. I didn't know it existed till yesterday, we were desperate for some light relief. Bangs, crashes, punky goddess in over-large hat, added Led Zeppelin. Great fun. Oh my god, was that Kate Blanchett, I had no idea! Even funnier. OMG! Was that Karl Urban! I had no idea. I used to fancy him. They should've had Martin Freeman to play the Wizard, instead of Cumberpatch. That would have been even funnier.
