This stood out a bit at the time. It had more power and drive than anything else that was kicking around from them. I loved it. Not realising, of course, it was a Rick solo track until years later. The saxophone solo was also something I didn't expect in a Quo track. Worked really well and fitted right in with the time period. It's funny hearing it now. Rick's vocals are very high; very shouty. And, in retrospect, he could have sung it better. But it's still good

When I first heard this I thought 'well this new Quo ain't so bad after all. The new guys may look weird and out of place but this track has balls and a modern sound'. I also loved the sax parts and felt it added more scope to a simple rock number. I don't mind the band experimenting if the end result is ballsy and of quality. So....like many, I was looking forward to hearing an album full of this style of music (along with Lonely and Rollin Home). Of course, what came out from this 'new Quo' was utterly disgraceful with good tracks such as this left off the album.
So yeah, its of its time and I am sure Rossi hated this shouty rockin' Rick style of song, but it stood out like a sore thumb - in a good way. It's a real shame the new band didn't follow on from this. It would have been refreshing and yet still Quo.

Good song with a great tone. Must have been listening to Nutbush for this one. Just feel the vocals let it down a bit. Too shouty. Would have probably suited him a key or 2 lower maybe. But no doubt a driving song !

This song apparently was lying around from the abandoned gas light studios 85 demos with Alan(read somewhere on message boards if correct) still on board or originates fron that time. It sounds like one of those songs he could have done for Recorded delivery but don’t think it is from those sessions and maybe something pip and Rick did on their own maybe with Jeff and John? By the sound of it don’t think Francis plays or features on it unlike Lonely which seems very much a Quo effort. The intro is typical parfitt circa nutbush city limits. Not keen on the shouty vocal like the melodic Parfitt rock voice Big fat mama, mystery song, even overdose.

There is, from memory, a 1985 'demoing' of this track but its not from the Gaslight sessions. It may be from the Wanderer sessions or just a mess around prior to an album they were going to record as that lineup before it was ditched and focus went onto their solo careers

If it was a demo for The Heat it should definately have been included.
Bit shouty as others have said but otherwise ok.
