And, of course, Tokyo Quo ended up as part of the Quo Live box set a few years back (as well as on upgraded vinyl), so the tapes must have been handy.
We do tend to get excited about old live stuff being cleaned up and released, probably because many of the previous releases (Mainz, Paris, Australia etc.) have been quite poor quality.
But as old live recordings are probably all we have to look forward to, I can see the attraction. Good quality film footage from the 70's is the Holy Grail for me. As it is for fans of most rock bands at that time. Bits and pieces are beginning to surface but Quo seem to be one of those acts that have nothing in the can. As they say.

I could understand reusing the tapes for Glasgow, but for Tokyo? It was more cheaper ship the tapes from UK to Japan rather than using tapes from Japan? Also, all the Tokyo Quo was produced in Japan (I mean, was recorded and produced by a japanese producer, wasn't it?), the tapes would stay in Japan all these years I suppose. No, the tapes were either sent back to the UK Phonogram archives or back to Quo, as they reside in the Universal archives simply labelled as Quo Live. Of course, I assumed after some time, the tapes were sent back to whatever in the UK. But what I think is strange is sent the used tapes from UK to Japan, wipe them in Japan, mix and release the album from that tapes and then, sent them back to the UK. What a trip!

That was exactly my question too! I felt my pulse going up and my heart beating faster when I read what Quoincidence wrote, let’s hope for some old stuff to be released! Trust me, it's something to look forward to and everyone will need to buy it if they want anything else from their back-catalogue remixing... if Universal don't see any profit, they won't bother again! It has been left in good hands, and it sounds superb! Much better than what earMUSIC are doing with the LiveHereNow recordings, mixing Rick and Francis down the wrong stereo channels. Without telling us what it is, can you confirm if it's something that hasn't been released as audio before or is it something that has never been released before in any format?

I don't know how to word it without making it too obvious, but it's something that has essentially been released in full but hasn't at the same time. It's a release that I, and quite a few others, were never keen on because of the original mix. It's been on vinyl, cassette, and CD. If you think you know what I'm talking about, drop me a PM.

Definitely, as much as I love that concert and have every single release of it on every format over the years including various boots, I'm not gonna get excited about another version of it, was hoping it would be something to get really excited about that we haven't had before

I think I know what it is, but if it is what I think it is, the bubble has been bursted. I don't want to know until the official statement and I have two possibilities. Maybe three, but there's something that I don't know there. But now I know one of the possibilities I've got is gone, maybe forever.

I'm also guessing it's Live Alive Quo, going by some previous threads I've just read, but the mix on the original version is great in my opinion. The only issue I had with it was Rossi's chat cut out.

Not that, and if it was it would be both nights I take it the reels for both nights exist? Have discussions with Universal ever taken place about the possibility of releasing it?

The only issue I had with it was Rossi's chat cut out. Not Live Alive Quo. I love that release to bits, besides the chat being cut. That is still waiting to be greenlit for its Deluxe release; it's only been sitting there, remastered, for the past year and a half.

As far as I know, most likely. Rossi had all the reels for the 14th May show from Rockin' onwards in his archive. I think the shows were recorded across 10 reels. There is a live version of What You're Proposing listed for the original 1+9+8+2 (2005 Tim Turan) remaster, and I can only imagine it coming from the 13th May show. I've tried to contact Tim about it but was completely ignored. love it when that happens.

S***, now I know what it is, and the only doubt is...Not going to ask it, surprise when it comes, BUT I'M IN, YES YES YES YES YES. But...I think, in the hypothetic case if this is the only release they are going to resurrect because of the budget and not going to spend money and time in another thing like this... I take it the reels for both nights exist? Have discussions with Universal ever taken place about the possibility of releasing it? I think the shows were recorded across 10 reels. 10 reels? From Rockin' to the end? How much time can a reel play? I mean, the full time of a reel. 15 minutes?
