Rossi has said recently that he feels the band are near the end, well I am paraphrasing, but does anyone think this is finally the end? I just wonder will they tour up til the end of 2024 and then announce it's over, rather than announce another farewell tour beforehand, it could be the case. I very rarely agree with anything Rossi says these days but he was the first guy in a band that I looked up to some 46 years ago, and I'd like to see him just end things now when he's in reasonably good health. I've found myself warming over the last 10 years or so to albums that I thought were just ok at the time of release and can partly understand the direction that Rossi took the band in. For the most part it didn't work as some of the albums didn't do that well chartwise, that doesn't automatically mean they are bad albums, but Backbone looks like it's the final studio album and that upsets me because I just don't like 75% of it. Personally I'd have liked them to start writing in the second half of this year up until say January 2024, then use the next 3-4 months to get the songs together for one final album, which they could release in September. Then they could start a tour around the album launch and do a farewell European/UK tour up til Christmas, then call it a day, that's how I'd have liked it to play out, but that's obviously not going to happen. There are many fans who have totally disagreed with Rossi over the last 25-30 years specifically, but I'm sure none of us wish any harm to him and want him to take things easy for the rest of his life, he deserves it, so do the other guys. Rhino strikes me as someone who just loves playing, could he form a new band with Leon and Richie? I'd say if they did form their own band, it would be in the style of classic era Quo, something I'm sure we'd all get behind. I'm rambling now.

I don't think it will be, I think they, (Rossi), will go on as long as they physically can & demand from paying punters is there, which at the moment, both of these are still very present. But who knows? Certainly not me, but I think they will keep going. I'm expecting at least one more album from this line up too. Interesting to think since the reunion gigs & Leon joined they've ended up having a few top 10 albums, regardless what people think of the material. When Rick passed & after the whole reunion thing, I'd lost a bit of interest in going to see Quo live. I was a little disappointed with the approach to the Aquostic project, nothing really bad about it, some nice easy listening versions, but I was hoping for a more basic, edgy & bluesy feel without all the added bells & whistles, like what I've heard from some of Rossi's solo tour. I wasn't sure how much was left to come from the band in it's current form. But, time is a healer so they say, I really enjoyed Rossi's album with Hannah Rickard, then enjoyed the Backbone album later that same year, then enjoyed watching the band on the red button at the Hyde Park Radio 2 thing, thought they were pretty on it that day to be honest. So I purchased tickets for the scheduled Backbone tour for 2020, which obviously then didn't happen. I went to the Wembley gig last year, my first time going to see Quo live since 2014 & enjoyed it, I didn't leave that gig thinking that's that, I thought what's next then, this is a band with a great history & back catalogue & still more to give! No idea what's next, but I have tickets for the Wolves gig next year & I hope it's not the end, both live & on record. Edit: On Rossi interviews etc. I think he's being saying this could be the end for about the last 20-30 years.

He'll/they'll go on until it's physically impossible for Rossi to do so,the other members can be replaced because Francis Rossi is Status Quo.

Like francis sometimes points out, Chuck still toured at 85, and put an album out at 90!
It's great that he seems so healthy. His solo shows have plenty of life left in them. If he does surprise us by ending the band, I'm sure he will still do lots of things

They should call it a day, vids do look good from what i have seen this tour but its still the same setlist from the last 10 years just with some new songs in place of an older song.
If they was to do a farewell tour Rossi should at least incorporate better tributes too Rick and Alan. Like when they play a song have a video or backdrop of them a little speech before the songs. Then also in the show for a song have John play drums maybe get Matt and Jeff involved in some form for appearances behind the drums on some songs.
I mean could easily have a section in the set just for that purpose 4-5 songs to pay tribute to Rick and Alan and past members of the band thru the eras up till now

I do wonder if the brand SQ will continue in a live setting after Rossi retires . Gene Simmons has already said he expects KIss to continue in some form although he and Paul Stanley won’t be performing. Or will we get a SQ hologram tour ? Cheers

At the end of his solo tour, there is a piece of video with credits and it ends with 'he'll be back in 2025'. Doesn't mean that Quo would end. But he's not retiring any time soon either.

He's said over and over than he values the income. He won't quit while he has his health and something he can market. Not sure Francis has many hobbies (OK those trains maybe) but he even sold his fish, IIRR. More harp than carp, our Francis.

Am I missing something here? I thought 1984 was Quo's final year? And then the reunion of course but aside from that.....
Oh you mean Francis Rossi touring under the Quo banner? Well, he can continue as long as he wishes but no official farewell please. Its irrelevant.

Well if we are writing off anything post 84 as not Status Quo then thank goodness I got into them in 82 and had a couple of years of the real thing 😀 Yes the Frantic Four will always be classic Quo but as long as Rossi is at the helm and they can still shift tickets for concert tours then they are Status Quo.
Stones are touring next year with Mick and Keith 80 so maybe Quo will do the same .
