You try to bring the place down but I can see a Waitrose. Bit posh that I've been in that area a couple of times, in fact just a couple of buildings up from that Waitrose, doing fire surveys. Completely soulless. There is an old Victorian London boozer just a minute away, forget the name. On the corner of an old street where they knocked all the terraced houses down but kept the pub standing on it's own. I suppose most cities are a bit like that. They have their green spots and they have their areas where they cram as many people as possible into a relatively small area. Kenny Everett once did a sketch about town planning called "Stack a Pleb" which I've always remembered. But people being what they are, react accordingly because their surroundings don't encourage anything else. People make a mess; it's what we do. Council's don't clean it up. It's what they do. Although, admittedly, that's sometimes quite a handily rolled out excuse. Deprivation, poverty etc etc. As opposed to accounting for individual responsibility. But I'm getting all socially philosophical here. Need to wind my neck in until I know what I'm actually talking about You wonder how much surroundings plays a part in behaviour. Would gangs of yoofs rampage through the Perthshire countryside, riding their bikes (is it still BMX?) and scattering herds of deer or would they all become benign overnight and admire the views?
