Great find Buffrob. Excellent rendition and the brass section fill it out really well.

Is 'Sweet Home Chicago', first recorded by Robert Johnson in 1936, the grand-daddy of all shuffle songs? Has to come close I'd say.

Another band who played a fantastic mix of blues and shuffles were Dr Feelgood. Wilko was gone but they kept plugging away with Lee Brilleaux as lead singer and had a hit in 1978 with this Micky Jupp penned shuffle classic. If this doesn't get your head nodding....!

Here is a rather grainy video of Savoy Brown and their rather nifty 1973 shuffle 'I Can't Find You'.
p.s. It was only recently I heard of the death (last December) of lead guitarist Kim Simmonds. RIP

RIP That should be Jackie Lynton on vocals, although I can't actually tell. I bought their album Boogie Brothers on the strength of seeing them support Quo. But it wasn't very good Quite like that track though 👍

I was in the Empire again a couple of years ago but it's now called the Festival Theatre. Completely different from the outside but exactly the same inside! Always thought there were small elements of Quo in some of Big Country's music

Toronto-born guitarist Pat Travers blasts through the old standard, 'Statesboro Blues', from his second album, 1977's Makin' Magic.
