I’ve come to the conclusion I really like this album.
I know I know…. But it was the first album I ever bought and I played it to death a a kid.
The deluxe version with the better besides is great. Really like Reason for Goodbye and extended WGTL
I expect a load of comments saying how bad it is …. Discuss 😂

I never thought it was quite as bad as many made out but it was a far cry from the Quo I wanted to hear. Actually, it wasn't what I wanted to hear from anyone.
The problem with it is that it was trying to be so 80's but it's not in the same league as some of the albums that were coming out around that time. It was far too bland. Not everything in the 80's was bland and keyboard laden, despite that sometimes popular perception.
OK, Quo didn't want to be G'n'R, Def Leppard or Metallica, which is fair enough. But they ended up being neither one thing nor the other. And, I'm afraid to say, that's what they become when they move away from the tried and tested formula. If Quo don't have their proper rock clothes on, they can be pretty dull.
Music doesn't have to hit you in the face. But it should provoke some sort of reaction; good or bad. Ain't Complaining (and it's successor) unfortunately did neither. Not with me anyway. I unconsciously switched off listening half way through both. I don't mean physically. The record played on. I just stopped listening.
The album does have highlights. The title track and, as already mentioned, some of the extra tracks with the singles. But it's not an album I turn to very often.

I think it’s so much stronger than perfect remedy. And Thirsty Work. What a shocker that was after RTYD

I played it to to death also, but now I never do. I was new to Quo, and was blinkered. It is a dreadful album
Playing Hello, now, that is Quo.......chalk and cheese.

The only songs I like from this album are Magic, The Loving Game and especially Don't mind if I do. And I love The Reason for Goodbye and like Halloween

There was some brilliant music in the 80s. Quite a lot of it was in a style or from bands that I don't particularly care for, but it was so good that it was still compellingly listenable as I sat by my little tranny radio. The majority it of was not by Quo. There are some nice moments on this album but it would never have passed my door if it wasn't quo and on a cheap musicassette to boot. As pop, I wouldn't rate this from Herman's Hermits (who I liked).

If the b-sides were featured on the album, would like the album a whole lot more. Need a better album cover too, perhaps a live photo of the band instead.

I’ve never got the dislike for the cover. What’s wrong with it?

I’ve never got the dislike for the cover. What’s wrong with it? I'm the same. Always thought it was one of the better album covers.

Only useful to use the opening track to see if you have your speakers wired up correctly.
WGTL - OK Ballad. Of its time. Don't Mind If I Do - Liked that track.
The rest. Not so great. Quo trying to find a new 'modern' sound to keep up with the rest of the late eighties music world.
