....shifting sands, a song I'd still like them to finish! I'm so with you on that one! Never going to happen now I suppose but I think it's a real gem in the making.

Great track. My favourite track post split - I wonder why? I'm just gonna pretend Pip didn't write it all so it doesn't dent my enjoyment.

By pure coincidence I was actually listening to Bad Company less than two hours ago, on my way to work. A real gem, I love it! Really really strange that it wasn’t released until the RR-boxset!

The only thing that could have improved The Dog album, replaced a couple of Na Na Na's with this. Although improving The Dog album is like improving on perfection.

Someone obviously didn't think much of Shifting Sand because they never finished it. Which is a real shame.
It has a haunting melody in the same sort of vein as A Year and would have been a fabulous addition to the Dog album. Wonder who's playing the piano on it? We know Rick dabbled a bit. If the timing is right, I dare say it could have been Bruce Foster.
Just musing over a lost gem. A lost opportunity in my book.
Incidentally, I can't see it listed as one of the tracks on the This & That CD but I'm sure it's on there. It's certainly in my iTunes library under that album.

Pip wrote and demo'd it on a 12 string acoustic from memory. Would love to hear the demo

Odd that the record company would reject the track due to lyrical content. It is a slightly a dark song but no swearing or anything or sadistic violence Quo had done similar songs before? Odd how record companies could dictate content back then..

I am sure you're right in that, but I will need to dig my physical copy out, the music library on the PC agrees with you.
