Wow! Splendid! Finally Stockholm 1971 gets an official release! (no, it’s not included in the BBC boxset, as it was recorded by Swedish National Radio). I’ve preordered the white vinyl ”Doing Their Thing” but it still hasn’t been released, so I think this one sounds as a ”must have” to my ears. Many thanks for this info and for the link!

Doing Their Thing was originally due for release in September. Then November. And we're all still waiting Hopefully it's not delayed indefinitely. Like the Swedish Radio Sessions was about 20 years ago. Be nice to see that one out at long last but I won't hold my breath

Not quite official. Just another bootleg release with an awful cover design.

So, I'm assuming the source that they have used for the Stockholm '71 broadcast will be the lossy rip that has been in circulation for some time, so I wouldn't expect anything amazing. Even the audio of the Doing Their Thing show was dodgy. Don't get how they managed that when it was properly released on DVD back in 2006, and it's not that hard to get a HQ audio rip from that.

I would think the sound would be dire ifs it's a bootleg hope I'm wrong

The thing is, these dodgy releases would never see the light of day if someone would get their finger out and do it on an official basis. If people are going to the trouble of bootlegging these and packaging them - very nicely in the case of Doing Their Thing and the Heavy Traffic vinyl - then there is presumably some sort of market out there. And even if there isn't a huge market (is there for any of this retro stuff by most artists?) can't someone just say "Y'know what? Let's give some fans a nice treat for a change" instead of counting the pennies and concentrating on the public entertainment appeal. Just for a change. That's not me being naive. I'm well aware where the priorities lie. But no one seems to give toss about anything but the mass appeal side of things - 100% of the time. Shame. 50 years of fandom counts for fvck all Anyway, rant over

I would think the sound would be dire ifs it's a bootleg hope I'm wrong I have the Stockholm gig on the red vinyl bootleg ”Dog of Two Head Tour” which was released some 5-6 years ago, and as far as I remember the sound there is really good, so let’s hope this one also will be listenable!

Looking forward to this then. Not an avid collector but some 70s gigs will do just fine.

Wasn’t the 1971 Stockholm set on the deluxe 8 cd bbc edition or was that another concert???

You are probably thinking of ”Paris Theatre”, London 1973, that’s the one that’s included in the BBC box set. The first two cd’s are ”live in the studio”, cd 3 has the london-73 gig, cd 4has the NEC -82 gig, cd 5, 6 and 7 has three gigs from the post EOTR era and disc number 8 is a dvd
