Interesting one this. The band - or at least Francis and Rick - loved it. And Rick once said it was the best thing he'd ever written.
If I'm honest, I find it a wee bit bland; a bit MOR. The melody is pleasant enough and it's nicely arranged and produced. I guess that's it; the song is quite nice.
Lyrically it reminds me of ABBA's Super Trouper in places but I appreciate the general sentiment is different.
It's alright
6/10

I thought this was a sure-fire hit - loved it. It wasn't, I still love it!

Love this track if another Rock act like Bryan Adams had done it would probably have been a huge hit.

To be honest, I didn't 'get' this one. I think I'm the same. It gets pretty good press from Quo fans generally. But it's all a bit lost on me (I'm the same with The Power of Rock). Like I say, it's a 'nice' little ditty. Probably makes 'good radio' - as they say in showbiz parlance Wonder why Rick didn't sing lead on it. Not that it would have made any difference.

Speaking of radio... The radio edits for both this and Twenty Wild Horses were absolutely dreadful! Almost like no thought went into it at all.. Just cut chunks out, most of them good bits, don't worry about how it flows. I remember being irked by it at the time. Ach, well. Long time ago 😂

They recorded a promo video for this during the pub tour - it just never got edited together. They also did a playback performance of it and Twenty Wild Horses* at the Baden Baden taping.

I always like it, even being a ballad. Now I found strange being a Rick song (and Rick being so proud of it), Francis sang it. They thought it could be a single perhaps? I'm with cooliquo , the singles edits from all the singles off UTI are strange, very strange.

I really love this one.
There’s something magical about the chorus for me .
And I love the outro as well.
This used to get a spin a few times a year on Terry Wigan’s breakfast show , long after UTI had been and gone.

I thought this was a sure-fire hit - loved it. It wasn't, I still love it! I think Quo being signed to Eagle didn’t how in terms of clout. Plus it was at a time where they were struggling to get airplay . It’s a shame as I think the song had something
