This song can only be fully appreciated by being played on the vinyl recording late in the afternoon whilst enjoying a wine… perfect. In fact the whole album deserves a whole bottle .. even perfecter 🍷

a number that's grown on me over the years - not overly grabbed by it as a teenager

a number that's grown on me over the years - not overly grabbed by it as a teenager Yeah, I know what you mean. As a young scamp in my late teens I thought this was a bit limp. And as a teenager, limp was not something you admitted But I never skipped it, put it that way. I find it rather pleasing on the ear now. OK, an ageing ear, but let's call it a more discerning ear. Nice 8/10

a number that's grown on me over the years - not overly grabbed by it as a teenager Ditto Its ballsy, gritty, bluesy yet gentle, with a biting solo. Only recently grown to love it Lyrics seem auto biographical And respect to Alan, being with the same woman since 1973 can't have been easy with the lifestyle and temptations doubtless on offer

Always liked it. The BFY album is like one big brilliant song, it fits together perfectly. Having first heard this on vinyl I tend to whistle the tracks inclusive of the pause between songs. I've always reckon Quo's harmonies are superb and generally overlooked by the critics. Quo are perfect on "It's no good denying, you know me too well"

Nowt to do with being a rocker or anything, I just always compared it to Unspoken Words and my opinion was, "Meh"
But, as I got older and moved into my 20s, I understood it more and grew to love it
Goes well with a whiskey

Sadly no, I can manage a lorry driver type whistle though, plenty of warble and improv.

Always liked it, those blues ballad changes reminded me of B.B. King. Right up my alley. And Francis plays a beautifully melodic solo.
