Who wrote these lyrics I wonder.
The intro is very Rick and the sound of the song wouldn't sound out of place on the Quo album, where he and Alan wrote most of the stuff...
The lyrics though... Was it Rick's true feelings? Was it Andy taking a look at the internal politics of Quo and saying, "Fuck this!"
Rick does have a history of writing autobiographical lyrics though tbf. Although, with LOAI, I don't know if Bob wrote the lyrics or not for that

If I was a betting man, I'd plump for Andy. His lyrics tend to be a bit different from the others. Build me a coffin and measure me now....Get me some transport; spend what you like....The glamourous life sure is a pain in the neck.... A mental disaster; a physical wreck....Yep, I'm settling for Andy

I believe Rick had been keen to revisit 'Take Me Away' for the solo album he had been working on but which eventually became 'Over and Out', as such. Would have been interesting had it happened and Rick on vocals.

Probably their last great crackerjack, gobsmacking, powerhouse track. I really thought this would be the Quo of the 80's. How wrong I was!
Love everything about it and it still sounds so fresh today.
Sensational track.

I think we have to ask when it was written, during the 79/80 Sessions for JS or the few tracks that were written in late 80/81 to fill out the remaining tracks. if the latter then the lyrics kind of make sense with what Rick was dealing with at that point. I know that Andy and Rhino in the past wrote biographical lyrics for Rick.
