If it was full acoustic just played by him I reckon it would be worth seeing. I know, lets put together a set list and then have a debate and a row about it all blaming Rhino for getting Alan the sack. Okay, let's not make it too easy for the b*st*rd: No Burning Bridges, but let's have Unspoken Words to start things off.

its to make up for cancelled Talk Too Much shows. "In order to make up for your disappointment, we are programming Francis Rossi - Acoustic Greatest Hits. This show, in 2023, will feature 16 classics played acoustically. For those with bookings for Francis Rossi I Talk Too Much we will be in touch shortly to offer priority booking for the 2023 show." We won't actually know this early but do we think he will have the backing of a band? Or is this a solo, sit on a chair thing? Just musing I’d like it to be just him and his guitar(s). I would go. A hybrid of talk and playing. I have no interest in Status Quo now but I’d enjoy this format. Mostly hoping it would be a fresh mixture of songs.

I think the 'announcement', such as it was, said something like " classics acoustically". I wouldn't want to jump to too many conclusions but I'd imagine that meant mostly the hits. I know one person's classic is another's throwaway dross but classic in the broadest terms (i.e. the public perception) simply means the most popular. So I wouldn't get your hopes up for too much obscure stuff from the back catalogue There's nothing on the official website yet anyway and it was updated only a few days ago.

How's that?

But no reason why he couldn’t throw in Polly and Dear John.

Although if he likes it that much I'm surprised it has never pitched up in the Quo set. And Dear John is a distinct possibility given the rendition on Aquostic II coupled with the fact it was a 'hit'.

Used to bring a tear to my eye. I think that’s maybe the cancer meds I was taking. But always enjoyed it.

I'm always more impressed when they try a completely different approach to a cover or to a song they'd previously recorded. Even if I don't like it, I can still appreciate the effort.
