Definitely one of theeeee Quo-est of Quo songs, if not the one!

A gem, possibly at the top of the list of Quo tracks that would have made great singles.

Has this version ever been released anywhere? Don't think it was even on the official Live Aid DVD set, just the other two tracks. No official audio release either, though i do have a good quality lossless version. Should be released, it's a pretty bouncy version with some wild and wacky soloing, and tasteful string bending!

You're 15. You take the record out of the sleeve for the first time; the spiral Vertigo version. You loved Paper Plane and so bought it. You thought Softer Ride was even better. This lot sound half decent, so you borrow the album from a schoolmate. A few opening crackles and then the opening bars. And we're off and running. The neck starts to move involuntarily and you have to stand up from your cross-legged position on the bedroom floor. No choice. The music forces you to get up. It sounds dramatic but life will never be the same again

I can say that over the years I'm kind of bore of this. Still like it, but I tend to do air guitar with paper plane, big fat mama or O Baby, but not with this. Don't know why.

Would of been a great follow up single in the in the 6 month gap between Paper Plane and Caroline. I know Pye released Mean Girl in the summer of '73, but it would have help the album sales of Piledriver ticking over.

I now Pye released Mean Girl in the summer of '73, but it would have help the album sales of Piledriver ticking over. I tend to agree but, I also have to admit, the record company controlled and then built our expectations superbly well. The anticipation in advance of the Caroline single after it was announced was almost touchable. Well, it was in my house John Peel did a brilliant review of it in "Sounds" before it came out and that whetted my appetite even more. The two PYE singles that came out in 1973 didn't seem to distract from the main event. PYE releases never did. And they must have tried about forty-five hundred times

Apologies, I need to step in and address the use of the phrase 'should of' instead of 'should have' in this thread. Victor, please could you exercise zero tolerance on any posts you see. We must maintain standards. Oh aye, the song. One of the DEFINITIVE Quo songs.

Fuck me...Just realised it's been 8 years since I last heard it live But yeah, great track. Summed Quo up. Always hated how Francis treated it over the last 20 odd years. No idea why he decided to play solos like that.
