My problem, I would never allow anyone to make a song of mine sound as harsh as that, but I suppose there are many fans of this production style, so it just ain't for me. Guess I'm an old fart even if I'm younger than you! (I just would like to hear the elements more clearly...)

Well, I'm certainly no world-class mixer but I've dabbled with my own stuff for a while, so I'd say... if you look at the waveform of the final audio file and it looks like a brick, you may want to dial back a bit. (I like to refer to the "dynamic fingerprint"...)
I do hear a lot of stuff with similar production on rock radio stations, even SWR1's relatively new rock format on Friday night could play your song and it would fit right in.
