A harsh response to a lighthearted comment I don't wish this to turn into a flaming match - because life's too short.
BUT, the fact that you found it 'harsh' betrays precisely why 'frustration' doesn't remotely come near to how I [and, by far, most of my fellow countrymen+women] feel about those type of throwaway comments from folks who haven't the slightest knowledge about actual/real Irish history [and therein the source of so many of our frustrations - and that's phrasing it kindly]
Further - your follow up comment to freewilly re: '...the Quo version...' - confirms my views.
Maybe in these 'Stay at Home' times - you'd actually read up on what REALLY happened here [again, phrasing it kindly] over many centuries? Maybe you'd end up learning something? We live in hope.
Hopefully we can now go back to what this thread was supposed to be about!

It's remarkably optimistic on your part to think anybody might have any knowledge of Irish history. After all, most people have very little knowledge of their own history. However, I don't think getting frustrated by it is very productive, & it's probably not very good for your health.

I don't get offended by the Irish stereotypical jibes. Why would I?
I do tend to roll my eyes though. Being perfectly honest and not in any way trying to be funny, because there's a lot more to poke fun at us for than that
