More like a bad tribute to typical Quo...

Well, before the played boogie they were a psychedelic popband.....That's how they started. Yep. They were just chasing stardom like any other band would. Wanting to be on TOTP. When Francis wrote POMM it was so different to the singles previously released under different names. Psych was very in around 67/68 so the switch up worked. And it is a great song. The riff is still being sampled/copied to this day. It wasn’t their musical preference in style but it was the in thing. Roll on a year and we have a big Blues / Rock explosion initially led by Fleetwood Mac and lots of others. Did Quo do as they done with psych and purposely followed a trend which ended up being highly successful and something they were very good at ? I don’t believe the story about they just wore what they wanted to wear and play music they were really into. I personally believe they followed the trend. Psych was dead anyway. Maybe Bob actually was the main influence in this switch ? Anyway thank god they did for us all. But POMM is still a classic.

I accept it. Listen to mid 60's boots and they seem happiest playing rock n roll like bloodhound

It’s ok.What I don’t understand is why leave playing this stuff so late into their career??? They could have come back in 86 with an album like HT,following up with this one,RTYD,UTI. Would have gone some way to restore them in the eyes of their fans instead of being so inconsistent and releasing so much shite under the Quo name since 86 Cheers

It's grown on me slightly since first hearing but it's nothing special. Adequate album filler. Oddly enough there's a bit that reminds me of one of Strange Fruit's songs from 'Still Crazy'. That's me. I really want to like the song a lot, I really do, but I came away thinking it's okay, nothing more.
