Nobody said that everything from the 70‘s is Solid Gold. But the great majority is much better than everything on backbone and much much much much much better than Crazy Crazy. You all love Heavy Traffic for me it was quite a disappointment apart a couple of tracks!!! I love Rock 'Til You Drop it's the only post '86 album that sounds like the 70's Quo . I can't understand why many of you that love the FF don't agree with it !! My two choices for post '86 is RTYD and ISOTFC the rest including QPQ are just average albums with PR being the worst apart the gem on it "The Power Of Rock" Not everyone. Heavy Traffic was an album for me of which only some songs were good but I dislike the rest. I do like QPQ though

I do love HT and gave it a very positive review. Most fans didn't agree with me As for RTYD, I rated it highly when it came out but I don't go back to it Of the original songs, there's one man band and like a zombie that I really like

This could easily be the worst thing they ever recorded. Don't mind the country influence in other songs but this is just awful. I'd rather listen to Marguerita Time for 10 hours on repeat than to listen to this one again.

It's the first time i've heard Francis so blatantly hamming it up with the American accent, which is a bit of a turn off to put it mildly.

I understand completely why many core fans won't like it, but as a country/country rock fan in general, have always appreciated the country element in certain Quo songs. This song, as a bonus number, isn't on the album I bought so am hearing it properly for the first time. Its very very similar to various other country style songs that Francis has written, but , I still quite like it. It would also have fitted very nicely on his duet album with Hannah Rickard

My problem with Crazy Crazy is the way Francis uses his voice, a bit irritating for me in some places

Some have certainly been better than others, but some kind of country element has always been one derivative influence in the music. However, Francis could take inspiration from Hannah and make an improved second take on the latest album - by losing the Quo feel behind a few of the songs which makes them sound too close to repeated copies of Margarita Time, and making more of the songs have a more organic country sound. There is something of an Alison Krauss feel to some of the songs on this album, which is a big departure from anything Quo related but whilst it would not be liked by many, it could be that at least a few more fans would take to his appreciation of country music if a further step closer to something 'purer' was adopted

That there have always been songs with a country element I agree with. But there are - in my opinion - good and not so good country songs. And Crazy Crazy simply is one for me that is not so good. If Francis would lose the Quo'd up feeling of some of the country related songs could be a good thing, but i'd prefer him to do that on a solo album, not on a Quo album. Quo has been doing more then enough things in later years that had little to do with Quo and I for one am glad that this album sounds like a Quo album again. Or were you talking about him losing the quo'd up feeling on his album with Hannah ? What specifically turns me off in the case of Crazy Crazy is trying to sound like someone with an american accent, it's just irritating to me as heck

I probably didn't make it clear enough - yes, I was referring to the duet album with Hannah in terms of losing the Quo element. On the basis that I don't follow Quo that closely these days it means I am open to different ideas that might spike alternative interest. But I understand that those who still relate to past history will naturally have different views and prefer them to follow a stricter script closer to the trademark formula (and minus most of Francis 'modern day' country element) As for Francis accent on the song, it just makes me smile. Based on his well known character, its highly likely to be deliberate! There is plenty of scope for Quo to further evolve with Richie and Leon now well established and get the best of out of them. At the same time, there is further scope for Francis to evolve his country tastes away from Quo with Hannah, and maybe even other specialist artists. Both possibilities would be of interest to me, though whether one or both happens is another matter of course. In terms of the live perspective, it seems almost certain that Quo will not deviate at all from the mostly 70's hits, and in that respect I have least interest of all. But good luck to them, they are still clearly enjoying it

Thanks for explaining further swingseat It's not that I am not open to different things being tried, even different things can certainly come out very good. Just feel that all sorts of different things being tries suits better on solo albums. Oh yea, I wouldn't be surprised if that accent from Francis was indeed done deliberately ! He certainly is well capapble of something like that lol ! But yea, I suppose I prefer Quo albums to not distract too much from the original formula, unless the songs are very good ones... Backing off for instance is not really a standard Quo song but I absolutely love it.
