Picturesque Matchstickable Messages Spare Parts ISOTFC Bula Quo Aquostic 2
Not really sure why I didn’t buy ISOTFC...just never got round to it, so haven’t listened to it.
BQ was just embarrassing from start to finish.
Heard a couple of tracks of Aquostic 2, but as much as I didn’t mind the first one, it was always clear second one was going to be scraping the barrel...

ISOTFC is definitely worth a listen, even if only on YouTube or one of the music apps. I'm not a big fan of Bula Quo but some people are. A bit different, but again worth a listen. A2 is probably the least listened to of all my Quo albums!

Studio-wise have heard everything - though I didn't buy any of the 3 covers albums until years after their releases for the sake of being completist. Had zero interest at the time. I never got round to buying Aquostic Live, and also haven't heard any of the other recent live releases. Bought BB today though....will always pick up an original studio album on release day!

Aquostic 2.
For years, I'd loved the idea of a stripped back acoustic guitars only album, and it's a shame they didn't actually make that album when Rick was around.
The orchestra worked alright for a few tracks on Aquostic 1, such as POMM. But for the rest, the orchestra and accordion were over-used, to the point of being painful to listen to. A perfect example is "All the reasons": the first minute or so, where you hear Ricks voice, guitars, and gentle bass, sound excellent. Then after a minute, unnecessary orchestral backing twiddly bits get added which are just annoying! Same for the rest of the album, so much is just annoying.
I then heard a few samples of the second album and it just sounded like more of the same.

I too thought it was the right time for Quo to try the Acoustic route as they had done pretty much everything else. Plenty of music fans believe that acoustic music is far more valid than electrified music. Not true of course but there can be a certain credibility, deserved or not, attached to acoustic bands or musicians who ditch the electric guitar for the acoustic. Didn't Rossi's driver, of some years, turn round to him and say something along the lines of.. "I didn't know that you could play properly on the acoustic guitar" ! They did depend on the extra musicians a bit too much on Aquostic (I think Rick especially had been nervous about the shows and possibly relieved that they had a backing group!) Perhaps could have been more convincing had they braved it out and kept things as just the band. Though the strings, and what have you, did work on stuff such as Pictures of Matchstickmen. The BBC coverage of the Aquostic concert had been par excellence.

Back to the theme of the thread...for some reason I never got around to listening to the Live Alive Quo album. Have heard that it is fairly good if a bit speedy but I'm not going to seek it out now. Came across that one in a "CDs for 5€" selection in my local Saturn. Quite enjoy it, the only downside is that it's the compressed Tim Turan remaster (and that they didn't make it longer... throwing in more bonus songs from the Wembley gig wouldn't have hurt)

My Quo enthusiasm was on the wane after the FF gigs. Subsequently I’ve never bought an album since Quid Pro Quo. Don’t think I’ve sat and listened to the subsequent studio albums either in their entirety.
That said I really like One of Everything from A2
Backbone however I think it’s Excellent.

At the time of the acoustic trend was the in thing to do as other artists tried it Simple Mind's and they did it successfully and with no accordions The first 25 seconds of that should replace waterboarding

I think I have heard at least once all the tracks on all the actual albums. After all, you can't find a good Quo track if you don't look for it. But I didn't buy the early psychedelic albums, and I didn't buy Bula or the Acquostic albums, though I like some of the ballads. I'm likely to buy Backbone - I think - but I haven't decided which version yet. No hurry!

Well worth a listen, even for someone like me. Give it a chance.

I have never listened to any of the three covers albums and not to Thirsty Work either. I don’t own them and don’t have any plans whatsoever of buying them (or listen to them)

Bula Quo mentioned a lot but it’s worth giving the Rhino track ‘ Run and Hide ‘ a listen. Would grace any Quo album from any period. For me it’s Better than ‘ Is there a better way ‘
