So I'm feeling a bit under par today. But recently I have purchased 5 classic Quo albums for a tenner. Don't even think/know if they've been remastered.
Just played Little Lady from OTL and I'm back to buying this as a teenager. And the Quo feeling is back. Oh yeah.

Brings back Quo greatest days and how exciting it was when you recieved tickets for a Quo gig... awesome. Even watching that ‘Lies’ clip today brought back those great days.

Quo were still on fire recording On The Level. They were like a race horse at peak form. Great songs and melodies, solos and overall sound and feel. It all seemed so natural and easy for them, everything in the right place and not forced like later albums. Love it from start to finish and had the classic storming songs and a softer side. 'Where I am' is simply divine. Going to play it now! See you what you have started Curiousgirl. It is infectious!

You put it superbly unspokenwords. It does seem effortless plus there is so much detail and interplay between them all which I love. I can't imagine liking any other band more after I listen this album and period of Quo. Enjoy! All part of the service.

Even all these years later. Its a masterwork.

Gives me an excuse to post this again...one of my favourites. Brilliant! Absolutely spot on! Is it tuned in open G?

I wonder what Rain would have sounded like, had it been recorded during the On The Level sessions

Dog, Piledriver, Hello and Quo have a great organic feel with some fantastic songs - 9.5/10 Blue for You shows a band reaching the peak of their studio powers and with some more advanced playing, but the songs are variable in appeal - 9/10
For me On The Level just gets the nod as Quo's best album overall - 10/10 - great natural production, clear sound, consistent quality across every track and, as mentioned....the Telecasters have never sounded so good

I wonder what Rain would have sounded like, had it been recorded during the On The Level sessions Totally different, I'd guess. The two albums have different sounds. Richard used his open G tuning on every track on "On the Level"....apart from 'Down Down', when Rossi used it - and possibly 'Broken Man' and 'Bye Bye Johnny', although it sounds good using that tuning too - so he was getting more experimental with it as time passed. 'Over the Edge', for example, is the open G tuning, but dropped half a step into F#. It's a great tuning to fuck about with. And people think Quo were just chugging three chord fuds. Go figure. I’d have loved to have sat down with him and asked where he got the ideas for the tunings from. He got the name of being a party boy, but at some point he must have actually sat down and put the hours in.
