After Dublin '14, I remained optimistic that they would tour again, but then it seemed that it really was the end, confirmed by the interviews on the Final Fling DVD.
So then I got excited and hopeful for a PLC project. I could see that Rick was getting cheesed off with Quo Lite on their winter tours of 2014 & 2015. I think the reunion tours really drove a divide between Francis and Rick even more than there was before.
There were rumours that Rick was going to show up at the first FTMO convention in 2015. Jackie Lynton even confirmed it from the stage, but said that Rick couldn't make it because he was recovering from a shoulder operation. So I was always hopeful that Rick wanted to get back out and do some serious rocking live on stage again. I really think that the reunion shows had reminded him what he used to love to do. He had been on auto-pilot for so long doing the Quo Lite gigs, that he had become complacent.
I never had any expectation of Francis wanting to play with PLC again, but I hoped that the 'Frantic Three' might do something.

Who knows about Rick's shoulder problem? that is what cost him his life in the end. I read somewhere (but I can't remember where) something that implied it was a strain to do with his playing (which is odd because I thought it was his left shoulder), or some such, and needed an operation, going back quite a long time before his heart attack. But I may be getting time streams muddled. Partial shoulder dislocations and even frozen shoulders sometimes need quite complex operations (which apparently don't work very well). Sadly it looks as if what Rick was doing was "not recovering from a shoulder operation".

For me, it's the anticipation and build up to the gigs that we got on the reunion tours that I hadn't experienced since the early 80's plus the buzz and being part of a full on "Rock" audience watching the Frantic Four. I didn't think at the time that it was likely they would tour again but I was hopeful of one off gigs or a farewell gig! Yes, I too was hoping for an anniversary gig this year as Rick had mentioned 50 years of hits starting in 1968 with POMM. After the end of the touring was announced, it was a forlorn hope that the plan was to have a few finale concerts this year including reunion line ups. Never to be unfortunately. Regarding Don't Think It Matters, I saw JCQ do this at the pub gig in Shilton a couple of years ago and it was epic! I'd love to see them do it again! Hint, hint....

Hi All, Everything that was hoped for already mentioned would have been the goal for many fans. As for his shoulder injury I am sure that it was an infection he picked that spread rapidly while still in the hospital wasn't it ? not the injury itself that was the cause of his passing ?
EDIT 18:31:- Quote From the Guardian referenced by Management and Family - "He died in hospital in Marbella, Spain, as a result of a severe infection, having been admitted to hospital on Thursday evening following complications to a shoulder injury incurred by a previous fall."

Rick's luck ran out, he contracted Sepsis in the shoulder after being in the hospital having it looked at.

Rick has always had issues with his shoulder... I'm pretty sure he was complaining about it or mentioning it on the Rock On and On documentary from 2001/02
