Phew... As I loved and love John Fogertys version of the title track, The Quo-version was, and is, a bit on the lame side... That aside, they played it so it couldn't be wrong, right? But the sound.... I bought 3 LP's before realizing that it wasn't my hi-fi, nor the needle..... For You... learned it on guitar for my then-GF. That B7 was a hard one! Love Dirty Water, HYB, RR, but the thin thin sound made the album a bit of a bummer. It was Quo, so way back then it was a 7, nowadays a 5, and the remix by mr. Eden is an 8. What's interesting is that over here Fogerty's version barely made a blip, and I think it sucks. I'm not wild about Quo's because I don't like the song all that much, but Quo's is much better to my ears. Funny how things sound different to different people. Creedence was my first contact with rock, and John's voice was amazing, IMO.... Perhaps US overdosed on CCR? I know I don't rate a lot of successful acts due to the fact that they are.... successful....

And while I like Fogerty's voice, not in large doses. I thought Eye of The Zombie was great, but most of his stuff is meh to me.

I always liked the RAOTW album very, very much. Yes, the production was shite, but, to my ears, the song material was great in the best parts. And the cover gets 11/10 from me, although they changed the Quo font. All in all that makes 8,5/10.
Edit: Just listened to the mp3s of the remix when they leaked on the old board (will get the CD in a week or so), but it probably makes at least a 9/10 out of RAOTW.

I would give the remix a solid 8/10, the original probably around the 6-7/10 mark. On the remix, the likes of Rockers Rollin, Hold You Back, Can't Give You You More, Dirty Water and For You sound great. Who Am I? always been a fave, didn't mind the original mix of that track for some reason.

I remember being taught to play the chord of F like the chord of C but then also covering the bottom (top?) string as well as the 5th (2nd?) string. My guitar strums along just the same

Why do people hate the cover? Looks OK to me. And I like the way Status Quo is written. If it ain't broke don't fix it . Scroll to the top of this forum , there's only one way it should be wrote .
