I'm doing some work for a University and this was blasting out at the Student Union. It's pretty much from the Xmas song template, plodding tempo, mistletoe lyrics, including the all important chorus key change near the end.
I doubt very much passion went into writing and recording it......
Didn't Frame say he hates Xmas?

I read the other day that Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody still brings in £500,000 a year. A nice earner for Noddy Holder and Jim Lea. Seeing that Francis has mentioned in a number of articles that he has a large family to support and basically can't afford to retire, you would think he would have tried harder to achieve a successful Xmas single if it would bring in a regular, fairly lucrative paycheck for years after.

Didn't Rick write this? Seem to remember finding a clip of them promoting it and that being said.

Rick and the Morris fellow wrote it, TAFKAR hates it, I like it... It deserves a better place in the lingering playlists for christmas....

Woolworths went bust the week ICT was released and the song was already on the Pictures album, though it doesn't excuse the decision not to play it on tour.

As a Christmas tune I don't mind it, better than a lot of them. I have a question about thee video though, is that a young Rossi strumming the guitar (from about 1min52) and is that his mom and dad sharing a kiss next to the Christmas tree later on in the video?

there hasn't been a new memorable Christmas song (or at least not one I can remember)since the 90's..Had they released that in the 80's/90's it might have done ok, though it was never going to compete with Slade, Cliff, or any of the usual standards that are wheeled out this time of year!!

Speaking of memorable Xmas songs, I'm sure Roy Wood tops up his bank account every year with his Xmas jingle. Probably not as lucrative as the Slade song, but probably not too far behind.
