I note that when you search Status Quo on Amazon & sort cd's by release date it shows If You Can't Stand The Heat & Whatever You Want as 2016 releases - are these further deluxe releases?

Yeah they might be??? Dave Ling mentions writing the sleeve essays on his website diary for 'On the Level,' 'If You Can't Stand the Heat' and 'Whatever you Want.' No mention of 'Blue for You' though. From the 14th of November... "It's evening as I type, and I've just finished my sleeve essay for the expanded re-issue of 'On The Level'." From the 18th November... "There are big smiles again here in Catford as, following two weekends of intense candle-burning and scribbling about 'On The Level', '...Stand The Heat...' and 'Whatever You Want', Alan Lancaster writes back in an email: "I like these — they're a nice read." daveling.co.uk/

One of the shows at Hammersmith during May '79 (the IYCSTH tour) was recorded by the band with a view to having another live album released. If we get another shitey bootleg instead of that, then the record company is taking the piss. Bootlegs of unreleased studio tracks/out takes and demo's are more than welcome but trying to pass off a recording from a guy in the audience with a cassette recorder as "previously unreleased" is not acceptable and in no way makes a cd a "deluxe edition".

You'll notice how it's never the master tapes for greatest hits albums that get their arses burned off in a "warehouse fire" and also manage to remain immune to falling into the Status Quo recording archive Bermuda Triangle.

Look at the bootleg list, there isn't much quality material from the 'golden years' available. Yes I think those extras are disappointing but I'm just glad Universal have finally released decent sounding remasters of the original albums. As far as OTL, IYCSTH and WYW go... I think WYW will have the Now Hear This album as a bonus (it would make sense) and OTL as well as IYCSTH should have quality live tracks. Probably no remix for IYCSTH to get rid of the Aphex...

It would make sense to release the full 1975 Southend gig,for the On The Level Deluxe edition, as Junior's Wailing and Roll Over Lay Down were part of the Live ep and Roadhouse Blues was released on the Rockers Rollin' 4cd set and the 2005 remasters of On The Level. It always seemed strange to me, why would they record the 1st track, middle track and last track of the Kursaal gig a nothing else.

That's a great shout for Now Hear This as the WYW bonus disc. As for IYCSTH,if the original unedited Accident Prone, complete with Rick's intro is found, then that alone would be worth it but if there is some officially recorded live stuff from the '78/'79 tour, then that would be the icing on the cake.

The 1975 Southend gig must surely in its entirety be in the archive. Ten years ago, music consumers expected reissue cd's to come with bonus tracks but now we all expect them to come with bonus discs and maybe this what is going to happen. I think that Gerdundula from the live ep was recorded in Trentham Gardens,Stoke,so is that gig also lurking in the archive? Because it seems strange to hire recording equipment and endure a prolonged stage set up just to record Gerdundula.

I actually have no interest in any of the deluxe editions or re worked albums.
I grew up listening to the originals in the '70's and that's how the band sounded at the time, and that's the way I like it.
But each to their own.
