So last night, my youngest son and I headed to the Brighton Centre. Hadn't seen CQ for three years as FF intervened and was a more attractive option in intervening years. Not the longest hiatus for me as hadn't seen Quo for around 20 years until rediscovering them as a live act at Cropredy Five or six years ago. In all honesty, was a little worried it would be a bit cheesy like last time - "will they play the Christmas songs dad?" Had me nervous!
Wilko on first was good, steady and enjoyable if lacking "shade and light" for me. Then the break before the lights went down again as Quo came on. Caroline then into the two covers before Rain and Little Lady - wow, a great start and heavier than I'd expected. Burning Bridges was well received before that awkward mid section (you know BOTE, MEDLEY, ORIENTAL, CUOY). Personally I don't dislike the medley. Songs are so good and I can understand why they do them. The other three though - why? So many better options if they want a breather. Anyway, took the opportunity to visit the gents during Oriental! Loved Gerdundula and impressed with drum solo before great section. ROLD, DD, WYW then Rockin'. Casuals and regulars alike couldn't fail to be pleased. finally the encore - PP, JW, before R n R music and BBJ. The energy from the band was astonishing given their age. It was a terrific show, far better than I'd expected. Most know I'd take FF every time bit you know what, CQ are a fine live band and I'm not going to leave it so long again....

Good post smq. Sounds like you enjoyed it. Personally, though i enjoyed the Blackpool gig i thought the set was probably the worst i've ever seen/heard. I'll still keep going though !!!
