Perhaps predictably, Noel Gallagher has revealed that unlike most of the world, he is not a fan of Adele. The former Oasis songwriter and guitarist has, in an unfortunate turn of phrase, branded the chart-topper’s songs “music for f**king grannies” that contribute to the “sea of cheese” he believes is ruining the industry. “If someone wants to know what I think of Adele, I’ll f**king tell them,” he told Music Feeds. “I just don’t see what all the fuss is about. I don’t like her music. I think it’s music for f**king grannies.” Gallagher did emphasis that he does enjoy some contemporary artists, but is fed up of being asked about Adele. “It is interesting that no-one ever talks about my love of U2 and Coldplay (he features on new album A Head Full of Dreams), but there you go,” he said, before adding that music has “nosedived into f**king blandness - a sea of cheese”. Adele recently broke the UK record for the fastest million-selling album with long-awaited third record 25, as well as a smashing a ton more at home and around the world. Gallagher, meanwhile, sold his Oasis B-side “Half the World Away” to John Lewis so that newcomer Aurora could cover it for the company’s Christmas ad. The 48-year-old admitted to selling out, saying he was consoled by the “cheque, which believe me, is highly worthwhile”. Notably, 25 replaced Oasis album Be Here Now as the fastest-selling album in UK chart history. www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/noel-gallagher-casts-his-verdict-on-adele-its-music-for-fking-grannies-a6766576.html
