As a person, met him in Newcastle with my son a few years ago acted like a right arrogant prick to us both fortunately Matt Letley was there & was different class, im very easy going & get on with anyone but his attitude that day will stick with me forever he was an absolute arsehole. That's fine, you met him, you didn't like him. What did he do/say that made him come across as an arrogant arsehole?

I imagine he is pretty happy as his songs have had a wider audience than they would have otherwise. When was the last time he wrote anything decent ? I actually think his last solo album is very decent but very little of it would suit Quo. Maybe Rubber Gloves at a push or Ruby And Roy (the weakest track on the album in my opinion). Last 'decent' song for Quo? Probably Dust To Gold which I believe was largely his baby. More than decent that one. Although I'm also quite partial to Never Leave A Friend Behind.Dont think Ive heard the latter. Dust to gold isnt for me. Its the band trying to hard. Its souless and lacks decent guitar work. However each to their own.

Just as well Spud wasn't with him, I've been in bars on the reunion tours where JC would be drinking with Quo fans like he was one of them and then on other nights he'd walk straight past and give them that fuck off look., personally I though it was fabulous, after reading for over 35yrs that JC could be like this, though the couple of nights he joined us in the Bar were priceless.!! Aye ive met JC a good few times & hes exactly how you describe him there I dont mind that cos he comes across as a genuine bloke, when we met AB outside the city hall in Newcastle my son had the Just For The Record book he asked him if he didnt mind would he take it in & ask Rick & Francis to sign it for him as they were already in the building, i also had a couple of cd covers (bear in mind the previous year Rhino got a couple of things done no probs - in fact he was great about it) so we didnt think it was an out of the way polite request really, AB`s reply was " i havent got time for shit like that" tbh i thought it was said in jest & laughed expecting him to .... he didnt he said just said " did you not hear me the first time?" & walked in the venue! i was fuckin livid him not for me but more so me son he was bang out of order, as i said Matt was just behind & quite frankly looked embarrassed by it all he said " I`l take them in no problem" he did & brought them back out also spent a few minutes chatting to us he didnt need to do that but did & i thanked him for it, AB can forever go & piss up a rope as far as we`re concerned!

That's a surprise - and a disappointment. Obviously much more for you and your son. He seems fine in interviews and documentary clips and quite an off-beat sense of humour - but then none of these are interacting with fans. Can't say I blame you for your attitude towards him if that's how he behaved
Matt always came across as a decent guy in his time with the band. Definitely not his head up his arse either - so good to hear he is like that in ordinary life as well

In a back issue of (I think) MOJO, there was a really good article about the Pink Floyd "The Wall" live shows - and Andy was among the musicians interviewed.

Since it's an AB thread I thought I'd toss this out there. Y'all have probably all heard it a million times, but was new to me.

That sounds awful and must have been a very disappointing experience for you and your son. Did you ask him for his autograph first and did he give it? Maybe it was just sour grapes if you only wanted Francis and Rick's......

'off-beat'? I think he comes over as a bit weird and stilted to say the least. He has written some good material here and there and DTG is superb in my book, but in all truth I see AB as much luckier to have 'found Quo' rather than vice versa. Not the kind of charisma or presence you'd associate with having been part of one of the country's biggest music acts. Versatile and talented enough musician, yeah, but there are thousands of those in every town.

Not sure tbh why you have selected it. If you read my general overview of things in general about the history of Quo, or knew anything about my views of them based on being a fan since the mid 70's, you might alter your judgement or read between the lines in context.
Or, just perhaps, maybe not make a judgement at all. Just a thought...

Hi Catlady.
Rather than making a "judgement" I am adding my views on Andy Bown, in a thread about Andy Bown.
I used your wording (feel free to use any of mine), simply as a means of drawing a comparison to your assessment of the way he comes over to you in documentaries and interviews, with the way I have perceived him.
As such, not sure I deserved the moody last line.
Also a fan from mid 70s (it was Caroline on ToTP that hooked me).

There is nothing exceptional that I have said about AB over anyone else. Indeed I expressed regret to sincity's unfortunate encounter and how it conflicted with the impressions I had. The italics are a clue btw. Just one immediate example of the judgement and perspective I referred to.
Rather than being "moody", in stark contrast I think my mistake too often, is being far too polite and "nice" and making a joke about things when its the reader who should think before putting fingers to keypad.

Nah, you sound pretty moody. The cat's had a few eh (in the avatar). I don't recall you being argumentative on the old MB? More positive feedback is that I like your balanced views about the band continuing without RP, pretty much agree with all you say in that one, even if you have got an attack of the grumps tonight

Hey cats, I don't think there was anything exceptional towards you in wfoq's post. I don't think he was judging your opinion, just joining in with the conversation and almost agreeing with you. You think Andy has an off beat sense of humour and wfoq thinks he's weird..... What's the difference?
