You know, I'm just gob smacked. I see the vids, I see Rossi, I see some other guys with short hair playing sh*t written before they were born, and I wonder what relevance this has to the band I grew up with. The answer is "none". No Rick, no Alan, no John, no thanks. I really much rather see John's Quo than this tribute band... and that's exactly what it is. Rossi's energy in these vids is commendable. But it would be much better served working with his old mates than with this crew. 'his old mates'. stretching it a bit Buzz I hear ya, man. Just couldn't come up with a better description. Had a few already, ya dig?

Must agree with FW,that was painful to watch, sure as shit ain't Quo.
Good on Freddie for stepping up to the plate but he sure as hell looks uncomfortable.
Sincerely hope if Rick calls it a day all the good folks who have paid to see the Winter tour get the offer of a refund if wanted, although with Porter running the show I doubt it.
Get well soon Rick.Hope you haven't watched any of these clips or it may set back your recovery.

He's substituting for Rick AND he's playing with his Dad, a fella who's not accepted by true Quo lovers. The whole thing stinks. The Rossi Band is good. Let them write and play the stuff they enjoy. But call it the Rossi Band and let fans like me, to enjoy the past and to think about a future with all 4 members playing together. I've had a fair amount to drink tonight and wish to aplologize to any I've offended. Fact is the Rossi Band is good but it's not Quo. And I'm just plain tired of the obfuscation of the original item.

I could only manage a few seconds and had to switch it off. Couldn't comment on what it sounds like

Good job JCQ sound OK to my ears. In any case, they aren't claiming to be Status Quo, although I'd say they more true to the band that created Caroline etc. than the Rossi / Edwards / Edwards / Bown / Cave lineup who ARE using the Status Quo name.

Cletus obviously thinks he's something, even more so since he got his boy in the band. Look at him trying to be the hard man.

I very much liked and enjoyed the FR band gigs and solo album. Both CQ sons Freddie and Nick, were a very comfortable part of that band line-up and I am sure it helped give Freddie some confidence he needed to step into the very very difficult to follow shoes of Rick.
Freddie is therefore still bound to be much less comfortable by comparison to the FR solo band role though.
On the basis as described, its hard to be too critical of the band minus Rick. Its essentially a 'temporary/emergency' arrangement to meet schedule promises.
As disjointed as they sound in these clips, I think criticisms of CQ in terms of live gigs etc stem from what has happened long before the current circumstances.

Fucking hell People are actually finding excuses for those videos?! "As disjointed as they sound in these clips, I think criticisms of CQ in terms of live gigs etc stem from what has happened long before the current circumstances." Eh no! I posted a clip of CQ at Donington recently and said it was brilliant. The clips I posted above are utter cock and anyone who says anything different is either lying to themselves to justify the shambles or, they are deluded

"As disjointed as they sound in these clips, I think criticisms of CQ in terms of live gigs etc stem from what has happened long before the current circumstances." Eh no! I posted a clip of CQ at Donington recently and said it was brilliant. The clips I posted above are utter cock and anyone who says anything different is either lying to themselves to justify the shambles or, they are deluded By describing them as 'disjointed' I am not making excuses for their quality. They are not good. However, I'm tempering that criticism deliberately because I am trying to put some perspective on what seems, to me at least, a sensible suggestion that its not worth getting too animated about the videos because they represent a contingency step simply to honour previous commitments put forward before Rick was taken ill.
It therefore seems pointless making ultra negative face value evaluations/comparisons whether that be CQ, FF or any solo permutation for that matter of Quo.
What exactly do you expect with Rick absent? His playing is integral to the Quo sound, and no-one however good they may be is going to be able to replicate that. Hence I think its pointless getting upset about these videos.
Its bound to also have a knock-on effect to the performance of the other band members in Ricks absence. Francis especially has had to compromise his playing in various ways due to his band mates absence. Why is it such a surprise that the results are not great?
The alternative would have been to have cancelled all the dates and not honoured the gigs. The result of that would have created further different dissatisfactions. Its one gig situation where I would sympathise with CQ management and band because they are in a damned if they do, and damned if they don't (no win) situation.
