Ah, I thought he meant sessions in the same format as the Beat Club sessions.

The more I hear this, the more I like it and it grows on me. I say that as someone whose heard various bootleg versions and the Doing THeir Thing version, which I now believe to be edited.
At first I found the tune to much the same in terms of the solo but the more I've listened the more I like it.
I like the repetitive backing. Hawkwind were good at repetitive backings around that time.
As for jamming. I don't know if this is jammed or Francis improvising with set points where they go into other sections of the song. 4500 Times was most definitely improvisation and not jamming. If you listen to multiple gigs from one tour in succession you can pick this out. If you don't pay close attention it just sounds like they are jamming.
Whatever it sounds good to me.
I also enjoy the 3 minute Quo tunes and even non Quo tunes such as Here I Go again [from One Step At A Time].

I love the extended version but I also love the live feel, vibe and relentless rhythm of Doing Their Thing:

1/2 an hour of utter Quo nirvana. Great. The only downer? It's only 27 minutes long. Not long enough. Should have been an hour.

Am I the only one who finds this version a bit tedious? Frame's lead playing is just a wee bit too basic and lacks even a beginner's charm. Yeah, I know it's only rock n roll and would've been much better to witness, I think they're all just a bit stoned or something, it's a bit directionless and too raw for my ears.
Gonna get some amount of shit for this, I know!

Most of it is shite in all fairness. JC is the star of this video. His power, energy and technique is fucking outstanding. If this was more controlled in terms of time, it would be great. I can't listen to all of it.
