Kin `ell, absolutely brilliant. Cant believe this has only recently see the light of day after all these years. Surely there must be other gems from the 1970s in a vault somewhere. Watching this classic clip makes you realise this was the blue print for 4500x live. Just simply superb!

I have heard a version from the 70s which had the Vocals as well. A bit like what they did on the last Reunion tour.

Well, that was painful . I had to pause it at the 17 minute mark to go have a cuppa tea. Although it is fantastic footage of the FF in their formative time the song itself to me is nothing but a snorefest. It probably doesn't help that I've never ever liked the song in the first place. That said, JC is a machine and deserves a medal for keeping up that beat for such a long time. Great image of the guys at about the 25:30 mark

Status Quo: The band that could once do things as monumentally superb as this but decided in late 1981 to go on a quest to have the longest suicide note in musical history.

Love the song, love the groove, the vibe, energy and feel of it all. This is an incredible version.
But....
That goes on way too fucking long. JC was just the dogs bollix though.

Too long? Too long? Ah, how things have changed since the 70s. That is music for experiencing, not for sitting on the couch and watching on a laptop with head phones on.
Maybe it just reminds those of us who were there (ok, I was there for the latter part of the 70s and experienced the 25 minute 4500 Times rather than this) what things were like back then when you got caught up in the music with your head nodding and couldn't and didn't want to escape.
But it was fncking brilliant then and it is frcking brilliant now.
Those who think it's too long - get yourself a whisky, put those headphones on, close your eyes and sink into it rather than watching. And if you stilll don't like it just enjoy the 3 min album tracks.
For those asking for 2 and a half hour sets again, remember that 25 mins were taken up by 4500 Times!

When I first re:listened to the 22 mins 4500x on youtube about 5 years ago, I was worried that I'd find it too long. But the time whizzed by. Even without a drink. So I'm with you on this. Haven't heard this one yet. But I will later today.

My mate couldn't stand the 20+ minutes of 4500 Times and would go for a couple of beers at the venue's bar, while I would just stand there foot tapping, head nodding while the wall of sound just washed over me. It never seemed to be anywhere near 20 minutes as I was lost for a while into a rock n Roll heaven.

The difference with 4500 X is that there are different music passages, dynamic changes of tempo and rhythm... and more than one chord than GTGH! Yes they slow the tempo down a bit from time to time, but essentially its over 20 minutes of a one chord bash.
As I posted above, notwithstanding the repetition, the actual attitude, concept and execution of what it is, is excellent.
However, as I see it at least, these 27 minutes are simply a rehearsal for the real thing. They honed a full product in a very short time between Ma Kelly and Piledriver. I think this in itself was the remarkable feat of the FF.
They grew as masters of their trade, and this footage is part of that experimentation and rapid development. It also is where they are emphatically stamping out their new image.
There are plenty of other songs on both Ma Kelly and DOTH I prefer over GTGH. Those other songs are experimental too and some of them are brilliant and succeed better, imo, than GTGH.
But that is just my personal preference. There is no right or wrong
The main point remains however is that I would certainly rather have 27 mins of GTGH in attitude and full blooded carefree attack, than umpteen yrs of CUOY et al....
