Still have the original tin, with the records in perfect condition. It means so much to me now (not) that I almost forgot I had it.

Was there not a run of about 12 gold ones made for certain people, friends, etc?? I have a Gold tin, can't remember how many there were but they were as common as rocking horse shit.
I also have a very low number Blue tin.
The initial run of the Blue tin was extended but the extra ones didn't have a number.
The box came out at the same time (un-numbered) and became the standard catalogue item once both runs of tins had sold out.

Prince Charles did indeed get a gold tin, it was painted gold not gold plated! Just like mine, (though the band didn't present mine to me).
I have seen some of the second run of the tins (the un-numbered version) that have been re-sprayed by second hand 'dealers' in an attempt to claim some sort of 'special edition', there was a lot of shananigans going on at the time with the tin.

I've just dug out my blue tin version and it has an extra album in it , there was a mis-pressing done on the initial copies with side 5 being pressed onto two discs! Replacement discs were supplied about a week after release.
