Not sure how to get that to work. It's a screenshot. Is there a link to the YouTube version? Under settings go to 'playback speed' and select custom, you can adjust up and down. Try 0.85 speed. Don't expect miracles(!) but would it have worked as a slower, heavier track?

Not among my favorites but not a bad song for me. I remember when I was 13 and I bought the album trying to avoid the beginning of the song because of the synths and what my neighbours would think! Specially when I was playing AC / DC, Kiss and ted Nugent at that time!!! And you are right, If you remove the synths , then You imagine this song fitting in the Never too late album, same sound as Riverside, same production, sure the song improves a lot!

I agree but, from the first time I heard it, something was different. Listening now, the word "autopilot" comes to mind

I think by this time Alan was trying to write songs in the vein of Rossi/frost to try and get his material on the albums and this had started on the previous one. Apart from Ol rag blues these attempts were not over successful really and this particular song just filler at best. Hard rock maybe wasn’t an option maybe but Rick and Andy came up with the heavy song on this particular album so this style wasn’t completely rejected.

I think what this one lacks for me is some nice crunchy Quo guitars - it sounds a bit thin in that area.
I reserve the top spot for the worst Quo song of all time for "Stay The Night" though, a truly rubbish song. Jealousy comes a close second. Even stuff off Thirsty Work is generally more interesting.

I think Alan might have been inspired by "I was made for loving you". I see alot of similarities. Add delay to the bass and it's the same song but with less strong chorus.

Everyone knows Leonard Cohen is better at 78 rpm.

Everyone knows Leonard Cohen is better at 78 rpm. I think the speed's irrelevant - he ain't getting better now

Hi to everyone,
When Francis Rossi was asked about his favourite solos by a Spanish magazine in the mid 00s, he answered it might be Backwater and the one in "Your Kind Of Love", and added that he disliked his solo on Whatever You Want (Popular 1 magazine, issue 387, January 2006)

He's said that a few times. As for YKOL... Listened to it a few times today. Its very inoffensive. Alan's voice doesn't suit it in the verses. Chorus he comes to life. Not sure how anyone can hate it tbh. It's far from a bad song. Just sounds uninspired and demo like. Probably trying to write a single and forgot what he was good at... Like the rest of them
