great song. like the lp to. As disappointing an album as it was at the time to me, it's grown on me. Always loved Ol' Rag Blues, but the rest is all a bit plodding, although like I say, grown on me and I have a listen now and again.

I'll be honest, I've been a bit opinionated on it since it came out and have always cited it as their worst ever album release. I know there were probably poorer recordings to come but it was certainly my biggest disappointment as a Quo fan because expectations remained high in 1983. They dropped considerably after Back To Back and then The Wanderer. So anything even half decent since I've tended to praise, maybe more than it will have deserved. But I also need to go back to it. My tastes have broadened since then, so who knows? Maybe Going Downtown Tonight is actually a work of genius after all

Not too bad a track. Try playing at 0.8x speed on Youtube - need to select a 'custom speed'.

Not sure how to get that to work.
It's a screenshot. Is there a link to the YouTube version?

YKOL, awful track. The worst song on the album, tied with the shitty version of GDTT. The single version is miles better.

Don't expect miracles(!) but would it have worked as a slower, heavier track? If you ignore the irritating synths, then its not at all bad. Then again, it's the synths that spoil an otherwise OK track. As it happens, I was reading that book about 80's Quo and in it Andy says he hates the synthesiser. Always has and prefers to turn to the Hammond. Which makes me wonder who was pulling his strings in terms of the arrangement of songs. A clue might be the Rossi/Frost song, I Wonder Why which uses them in the same, frankly awful, way. You do wonder about some people's hearing or perception if they genuinely like that sound and think it enhances music

Poor, poor album
As for listening to the album at a slower speed, surely faster is better, it's over quicker.

I genuinely don't mind the song.
Win Or Lose, MT and GDTT are the worst offenders on that album... And there's a lot to pick from
