"holy trinity", "Return to form"... I've not seen any negativity towards it before
The two singles are classics
The rest I find a bit boring or mediocre.I don't dislike any of it, but I'm not enthused. I prefer b side Hard Ride to most of it
Breaking away and who asked you are I think the most overrated two Quo songs. Both a bit dull, although the four rockers rollin bit is great
This is quite possibly the only 70's album I won't listen to again. Sorry! I know it's very loved by many fans

Can anyone offer an explanation for the album cover? (Love "Just Supposin'" and "Never Too Late" covers). IYCSTH had an odd cover. But WYW. Press caricatures, Doorman of a Hotel/BBC. And some really odd depictions of human characters. Is it supposed to be from their point of view leaving somewhere?

The title track if I never heard again wouldn't bother me. Wish they had put Bad Company on the album instead of LOAI. Cheers

WYW LOAI WAY BA SL
I'm happy with that. Obviously wasn't around at the time, but I can assume it's because the sound had returned. I love the Rockin album. Heat, with the exception of 3 songs can get in the bin. It was probably that. JS was brilliant, as was NTL.
Bottom line is though, they were and always will be judged against their output between 1970 and 1976. Flawless albums. BFY, rightly or wrongly, was the beginning of the end

The only thing I don't like about it is the execrable Come Rock With Me / Rockin' On. I'd rather they'd included Hard Ride & Bad Company.
Of the post Live! pre Pete albums, I rate Whatever You Want second to Just Supposin', ahead of Rockin' All Over The World. I find both If You Can't Stand The Heat & Never Too Late rather underwhelming, for quite different reasons.

A lot of observations about many Quo albums are done in retrospect and this is one of them. No forums for discussions like this in 1979. At the time, it was just another Quo album but from a personal point of view I thought it was a vast improvement on its predecessor; an album which had thrown me a bit. It was by no means as good as any up to Blue For You but it was still very enjoyable nonetheless. Bad Company, for example, didn't exist. By which I mean none of us knew it existed. The title track is obviously so well known and overplayed we've all become sick of it years and years ago. But when it was released as a single, it blew me and thousands of Quo fans away and it flew up to no.4 in the charts in about a fortnight. Very fast for a Quo single. Dave Lee Travis played Who Asked You on his radio show quite a lot and pleaded for it to be a single but it was not to be. Although they did make a video for it. And Runaway I think. All in all, a very good album but it had some very hard acts to follow. And, by the way, I still play Breaking Away if I want to hear the band in full flight. I will always love that

Their best post 1976 album to me. Not only songwriting but how it sounds.

Is a great album for me, contains some really strong tracks. The only ones I’m not keen on are Shady Lady and Runaway.
Though people seem less keen on Come Rock With Me / Rockin’ On, I really like those, I remember being delighted when they played them live in the mid 90s.
High Flyer is a real deep cut favourite of mine, love the guitar solo.
I’m baffled why Bad Company was left in the vaults and not used as a b-side at the very least. Personally I’d have put it on the album in place of Runaway.
Hard Ride is a definite b-side for me, enjoyable track but not good enough for the album proper.

I believe it’s meant to be of fans/media welcoming someone famous into a venue (or they may be leaving). I think the bloke with the top hat is a doorman. There is a theory that WYW is a close as Quo have got to a concept album - there is a kind of recurring theme through the album of fame/rock n roll lifestyle if you listen to the lyrics. What the penguin has to do with it, I’m not entirely sure (even less so the suspenders!) but clearly it’s famous as the young boy is wearing a badge with the penguin on.

Some bloody excellent stuff on that album.

Isn't it strange how we like different things? I always enjoy the WYW album although I agree with others that the title track has been done to death now. As for High Flyer; there are few Quo tracks that I want to hear less. The worst track on the album when it came out and it remains in that position to this day. Just never got this song.

I have not posted for a while but felt the need to stick up for this album. There are no real skippers on this album. It has a fab rocky feel to it. Just listen to the drum tempo on Shady Lady for example (up loud ) Each to their own but a simply superb album in my view. There is always talk of the single WYW being played to death but it is still a beautifully crafted rock track. Don't tell me that the hairs on the back of your neck did not stand up when you first heard WYW because i would struggle believing you. Peace and love to all.
